Jupiter/Saturn conjunction at 0’ Aquarius, December 21st 2020
Jupiter is the great beneficent planet. By transit it opens doors of new opportunities and inspires cultural and philosophical pursuits, as well as new growth and expansion in whatever area of the chart it touches.
Jupiter in Aquarius gives us socially conscious and scientifically-minded outlook. We are motivated to work with like-minded groups who have strong humanitarian ideals. The area this Aquarian giant moves into through 2021 will activate a desire in us to be more inventive, original, and motivational. We will focus our ideals on the betterment of society, with a value-system that is unique, envisioning the finest possibilities for the social matrix in our communities.
Aquarians are eccentric and they march to the beat of their own drum. With Jupiter shining a magnifying glass on these qualities, expect the younger, progressive law makers to influence more humane and just legislation, bringing more aid and educational resources to the underprivileged and out of work. Expect the implementation of new environmental policies that will slowly help turn around the increasing damage created by global warming worldwide. We will expand computerized and medical technology, scientific research and space exploration.
In 2021, we may envision future possibilities too vast to achieve presently, like manned explorations of Mars. However, with Saturn's help, we will step by step, move steadily towards this vast new horizon as we get closer to Pluto's entrance into Aquarius in 2024.
Saturn's influence in Aquarius is careful, conscientious and humane. This strong leader will help us be more fair-minded, though detached, seeking the benefit of society as a whole. Leadership advancement in groups at work and in esoteric circles will be important. Saturn's energy in this air sign brings good powers of concentration with a broad vision.
The down-side is that we need to watch the tendency to be cold and calculating in our focus, and cut ourselves off from being heart-centered, in pursuit of a future vision, forgetting to stay grounded and centered in the present.
If we stay grounded and aware of our higher principles, the positive focus of Saturn places importance on the betterment of society through constructive communal activity. We will have a better focus on spiritual disciplines and transformational techniques to raise our vibration and help uplift humanity as a whole.
The Great Conjunction in History
Since 1802, Jupiter and Saturn have come together, primarily in Earth signs - Ta**us, Virgo, Capricorn, (except for 1980's conj. in Libra). The most recent were: February 15 1941 @ 9°Ta**us, February 18, 1961 @ 25°Capricorn, December 31, 1980 @ 10°Libra, May 28, 2000 @ 22° Ta**us, and now December 21st 2020 at 0° Aquarius.
The current December 21st conjunction of these two great planets, astronomers say, is the closest celestial Jupiter-Saturn conjunction since 1623, 14 years after Galileo made his first telescope. However, that conjunction was closely following the sun at sunset and was not as noteceable in the sky. The closest observable Jupiter-Saturn conjunction was during medieval times, in 1226. This was in the beginning of the Mongol invasion of Asia and Eastern Europe which lasted until the 1400's.
The previous great conjunction in Aquarius (°23) was January 7th, 1405. In February of that year, the last emperor of Byzantium / Constantinople was born: Constantine Palaiologus. He was the final of 12 emperors named Constantine in the 1,100+ years existence of The Eastern Roman Empire.
"When Constantine’s Byzantium finally fell to the Turks in 1453, this was the beginning of the renaissance. We are still riding the wave of art, architecture, literature, science, exploration, and the flourishing of culture that began at that momentous era...
Jupiter conjunct Saturn also represents the death or end of the old king {Saturn}, and the reign of the new king {Jupiter}. These two planets in Aquarius symbolize a flowering of culture, science, and vision." Mike Zizis
The next great conjunction in Aquarius that will be similar to now will be on March 14th, 2080 @ 12° Aquarius. We need to keep in mind that our children growing up now will be stepping into leadership positions at that time and will expand on our accomplishments. That's exciting!
Look to see where these great giants influence our charts. 0° Aquarius brings in a whole new era in humanity's evolution. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us to take a great leap of faith, beginning with the total Eclipse on December 14th at °23 Sagittarius. Imagine pole vaulting into new dimensions as we step through this alchemical portal on the Winter Solstice, leading into 2021, and pursuing our highest vision for ourselves, our children and humanity.
We've been through incredible challenges this year with Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto together in Capricorn, creating a cosmic wrecking ball in our society and in our individual lives. Though we may still feel tired and a bit wrung out, know that we are at the tipping point now.
The wind is filling our sails again and we are getting ready to set out for an expansive, exhilarating new horizon as we bring 2020 to a close.
Anais Nin said:
"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
May we feel into and envision the most beautiful, radiant garden of possibility imaginable and manifest this for ourselves and for future generations to come.
Onward!
