Callie Horne celebrated her first Mother's Day this weekend with her healthy 7-month-old baby by her side. The unprecedented journey the Horne family went through after receiving a spinal bifida diagnosis is what made this Mother's Day so special.

"There's not a day that goes by that I think about what it would be like for him to be different because I love him just how he is and he's just perfect how he is," Nash said. This is a specialty formula for certain infants who would benefit from lowered mineral intake and was not included in the previous recall. Sherresa's decade-long dream to have a baby finally came true on November 27, 2021 when she and her husband welcomed their miracle baby boy, Braylen. She had lost two healthy pregnancies in 2020, both at 17 weeks, due to an incompetent cervix. On today's blog, we're sharing how a minimally invasive gynecological surgery at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women gave Sheressa the ability to carry her baby much longer than 17 weeks.

Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate gratitude, and for Sherresa Henderson last Thanksgiving was an especially grateful season. Just two days after the holiday her and her husband, Joseph, were blessed with their miracle baby boy, Braylen, born on November 27, 2021 weighing 2 pounds and 12 ounces.

In this upcoming webinar, participants will learn about different aspects of patients diagnosed with spina bifida. There will be a multidisciplinary approach to describe how to perform a detailed evaluation of the spina bifida in utero using ultrasound and MRI. Register here:

Devorah and Elazar Tendler had recently relocated to Israel in 2019 when they found out they were expecting their second baby in October 2021. During her 20-week anatomy scan, Devorah's daughter was diagnosed with spina bifida.

After calling various hospitals in the U.S. that perform open and fetoscopic surgery for spina bifida, the Tendlers scheduled a consultation at Texas Children’s Fetal Center and packed their belongings to return to the U.S. On June 28, when Devorah was nearly 26 weeks pregnant, Texas Children’s OB-GYN-in-Chief Dr. Michael Belfort and pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. William Whitehead performed the in-utero spina bifida repair surgery. Today, their 3-month-old daughter, Ahuva, is doing well. Read the Tendler's full story:

Texas Children's Pavilion for Women is excited to announce the opening of a maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) clinic in Clear Lake, bringing the promise of healthier mothers, healthier babies and safer births to women and families in the region for the first time.

Located just next door to Texas Children’s Specialty Care Clear Lake, the new facility is the eighth community MFM clinic opened by the Pavilion for Women and the first at Texas Children’s to offer women’s services in the Clear Lake area.
