Our beloved friend/mentor/teacher, Lilly Roddy, died on October 14th of a heart attack, after spending a quiet evening at home with her partner.
She was rushed to the ER and doctors did all they could to revive her. She never regained consciousness. It is a comfort to know that her passing was quick and she did not suffer.

Lilly was a larger than life presence in so many people's lives, so often there supporting us in difficult transitions, as well as personal triumphs. She was the hub around which we revolved on a daily basis, with her astrology column, helping us chart our course for the day.

The Houston Astrological Society will be having a donation based class on Ceres this next Sunday, as a follow up to the class we hosted with Louise Edington on October 12th. Lilly participated in this class via Zoom on that Sunday with Louise, just 2 days before she died. Lilly shared that she loved the planet Ceres and that it's influence is always present in a death chart. That she was meant to be there that day and share her insights (with oh so perfect timing) still gives me chills!
Ceres is indeed present in any significant transition from an old life to a new beginning.

Ceres, as a large dwarf planet, influences our collective understanding of nuturance, loss and renewal.

In this class next Sunday, we will look at Ceres on a personal level in individual charts and how it's presence, in the birth chart and by transit, impacts our lives.

Karmic reflections, by Gandhari:
The fullest Full Moon of the year is now, at l8° Capricorn. Capricorn rules Saturn, governing time and boundaries, which is in Aries together with Neptune, ruler of the sea. Boundaries, shorelines, gave way to flash flood waters in Central TX early on July 4th. Saturn and Neptune form a mid point between Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius. Sudden extreme weather (Storms/Uranus) caused massive damage and loss of life (Pluto) which has affected hundreds of families, and collectively, we all feel the loss. Texas is a Capricorn state. The Full Moon chart opposed Sun in Cancer, together with Jupiter which magnifies the energy, indicates that earth angels in the form of volunteers from near and far (including Mexico) have and will continue to jump in and rescue/search/clear and rebuild. Jupiter w/Sun in Cancer is not only the indication of a rainy Summer here, but also a large awareness of the need to shore up infrastructure (Capricorn Moon) and protection of security and resources for families, to keep them safe.
Sweeping changes environmentally will continue to prod us to evolve and grow. Saturn stationing retrograde now, is a sharp reminder that we each need to take responsibility for our part in our personal choices and how these choices affect everyone around us. With growing awareness (Pluto in Aquarius) that this jewel of a planet is the only home we have, how are we going to create innovative solutions (Uranus in Gemini)that ensure a brighter future for our children, locally and globally? The Capricorn Moon is a sober acknowledgement of that responsibility. It time to step towards "what's mine to do", role up our sleeves and get to work.
