I'm fortunate to be able to provide care for people from so many different backgrounds, and I value creating a safe and open space for everyone. A patient of mine recently surprised me by asking me to make a video on prayer. I continue to be humbled and encouraged by the hungry hearts and brilliant minds I'm coming into contact with. I taught "Intro to Rejection Wounds" to my private mentorship group earlier this year and one of my mentees suggested that I teach it for my next women's session because it helped open her eyes so much. She said, “Our sessions have helped me so much. It doesn’t feel like I’m talking to a psychiatrist, but a friend.”

Many teens told me this (or something similar) when I used to work on the adolescent unit in psych facilities. I think it’s partly because I am younger, but also because I eagerly and gently meet them where they are.

Cultivating a safe place is so important when it comes to helping the heart and mind get healthy again, especially when engaging Gen Z, and I’m so touched every time I get hear them express how good it feels to feel better!
