The 3 F’s: Fit, Feel and Function

🗝Flange fit isn’t based on your breast or ar**la size, it is JUST the size of the ni**le and how it changes with suction

🗝Proper fit isn’t as always simple as measuring your ni**le, but it’s a start. See a trained IBCLC to help if you haven’t found the right fit or are struggling with poor output, pain/damage, or plugged ducts

🗝A small amount of space around your ni**le in the fl**ge tunnel is good. There should be no space around the ar**la or in the larger bell part of the fl**ge

🗝Pain, damage, or color changes (red, white or blue) means it’s the wrong size

🗝There should be very little ar**la being pulled in the fl**ge tunnel space. The bell or horn part will have most of the ar**la being held back

🗝The ni**le tip shouldn’t hit the back of the fl**ge. This means you have an elastic ni**le. Ni***es also shouldn’t double or triple in size to fill the tunnel. That usually means we haven’t found the right size yet

🗝Evaluate as you pump. You can changing fl**ge size mid-pump to improve comfort if you’re between sizes. You may also need to change sizes throughout your pumping journey are breast tissue changes which impacts ni**le size and elasticity

🗝Every ni**le is unique and each side may use a different size (or shape/brand!). There are all kinds of fl**ge sizes, inserts, and cushions to improve the pump experience.

Let us introduce you to our 2025 Women in Business, meet… Dr. Charlene Collier
Founder of Haven Pregnancy, Wellness & Women's Health!

Dr. Charlene Collier is a board-certified OB/GYN, public health leader, and the visionary founder of Haven Pregnancy, Wellness & Women’s Health in Ridgeland, Mississippi—a practice she launched in 2023 to provide comprehensive, accessible, and deeply compassionate care to women across all stages of life. From adolescence through menopause, Haven offers services including prenatal care, hormone support, annual exams, birth planning, and more—all in a welcoming space that feels far from a traditional clinical environment.

Since its opening, Haven has grown rapidly—from a team of three and two exam rooms to a practice now spanning two suites and a team of eight, including two dedicated nurse practitioners. At the heart of this expansion is Dr. Collier’s commitment to building something more than a medical office: a sanctuary where women feel seen, respected, and genuinely cared for.

Dr. Collier brings over a decade of clinical, academic, and leadership experience to her work at Haven. She earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University, followed by a Master of Public Health from Harvard University. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Yale University, where she also trained as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar, earning a Master of Health Science. Her dual background in medicine and health systems gives her a unique lens on women’s health—one that blends hands-on care with systems-level thinking.

My Oxytocin High

Welcome to Birth Euphoria! My name is Totiana Smith Michael and I live in Mississippi, born and raised. I am a wife to my amazing husband, Corey, and mother to two crazily adorable little girls, Amaryllis (ah-maryl-lis) & Acacia (ah-kay-seeyah) Michael. I graduated with my diploma from JHHS the year of 2012. I then dated and soon married my husband in 2015, birthed our first child in 2016 in a hospital, opened my small crafting business Virtuous Woman LLC. in 2017 making personalized keepsakes, and birthed our second born in April 2018 at home!

I love families, BIG families, all things babies, breastfeeding, animals, and holistic. My hobbies include writing/blogging (www.sabineflowertea.com), reading, art, music, yoga, calligraphy, pottery crafts (facebook.com/virtuouswomanllc) and a lot more. I am your biggest no s**t taking, women’s advocate and breastfeeding supportin’ neighborhood Doula and friend.

I am a training traditional/cultural doula offering, prenatal, birth, and postpartum services to, but not limited to, the "undeserving" black women in my surrounding communities. My scope of practice range from Bogue Chitto, MS to Madison.
