🌸 Spring is Near… But So Is Anxiety 🌸

As the days get longer and everything begins to bloom, spring can bring a sense of renewal but for many, it can also bring increased stress, overwhelm, and anxiety. Changes in routine, upcoming transitions, and even the pressure to “feel happy” can make this season challenging.

If you or your child are feeling this way, you’re not alone and support is available. 💛

A QMHP-CS (Qualified Mental Health Professional–Community Services) with Family Guidance of Texas can provide support through:
✨ Coping skills for managing anxiety
✨ Emotional regulation techniques
✨ One-on-one support tailored to your needs
✨ Guidance for both youth and families

You don’t have to navigate this season alone. Growth takes time, and it’s okay to ask for help.

Helping Youth Make Better Choices Starts with Support 💙

At Family Guidance of Texas (FGOT), our Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs) are dedicated to empowering youth with the skills they need to make healthy decisions and confidently handle peer pressure.

Adolescence can be challenging. Young people face daily pressure related to friendships, social media, school expectations, substance use, and fitting in. Without the right tools, it can feel overwhelming. That’s where QMHPs step in.

Our QMHPs provide skill-building sessions that focus on:
• Strengthening decision-making skills
• Building confidence and self-esteem
• Teaching healthy coping strategies
• Practicing how to say “no” in real-life scenarios
• Identifying positive peer influences
• Managing emotions before reacting

Through role-playing, problem-solving exercises, and open conversations, we help youth pause, think through consequences, and choose responses that align with their goals and values. We also work closely with families to reinforce these skills at home, creating consistency and support.

When youth learn how to stand firm in their choices and manage peer pressure, they are more likely to:
✔ Avoid risky behaviors
✔ Improve school performance
✔ Strengthen relationships
✔ Build leadership skills
✔ Develop long-term resilience

At FGOT, we believe prevention is powerful. Early support makes a lifelong difference.

If your child or teen could benefit from skill-building services, we’re here to help.

📞 Contact Family Guidance of Texas today to learn more about our youth services.
Together, we can guide our youth toward confident, healthy futures.

A Qualified Mental Health Professional–Community Services (QMHP-CS) plays an important role in supporting families involved in Family Guidance of Texas (FGOT). While FGOT focuses on educating caregivers about child welfare, placement expectations, and available resources, a QMHP-CS adds an extra layer of emotional and practical support.

A QMHP-CS can help families:
• Process emotions and stressors that often arise during kinship or foster placements, including anxiety, grief, or role changes.
• Reinforce FGOT topics by breaking down information into practical, real-life strategies families can use at home.
• Provide psychoeducation on child development, trauma-informed care, behavior management, and healthy communication.
• Support caregivers and children in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving techniques.
• Model and rehearse skills such as effective discipline, boundary setting, and self-care to promote stability within the home.
• Connect families to community resources and mental health supports that align with FGOT goals.

By working alongside FGOT services, a QMHP-CS helps ensure families feel supported, informed, and empowered—strengthening placement stability and promoting positive outcomes for both caregivers and children.
