Our next spotlight recognition belongs to Peter Bell, an early and powerful advocate for addressing the unique needs of African Americans within addiction treatment in the United States.

He co-founded the Institute on Black Chemical Abuse and served as its Executive Director for 15 years, helping shape culturally responsive approaches to prevention, treatment, and recovery.

Peter is also the author of influential works, including:

GREAT NEWS: We're expanding our access to care thanks to a Houston Methodist grant to support our Mental Health Care Access.

This funding will help us expand our impactful trauma-informed counseling services, making it easier for members of our community to get the care they need.

Amber Lotsi, Sr. Director of Clinical Services for Santa Maria Hostel, shares:

"Therapy provides structure, stability, and a foundation for long-term recovery. By strengthening both body and mind, therapy plays a key role in helping individuals build a healthier future beyond treatment."
