We hope everyone had a great first week back to school! Here are some great questions to ask your kids after school to get them talking about their day.

💜 We would like to welcome Doris Hernandez, our summer graduate student intern! Doris is currently halfway through the graduate Speech-Language Pathology program at Texas Christian University. Go Frogs!

💜 During graduate school, SLP students complete 2 “externships” (placements outside of the university clinic). Students can complete their externships in settings such as hospitals, rehab facilities, schools, and private practices and assist in treatment sessions under the supervision of a licensed SLP. When students are not in an active externship, they are taking courses and treating clients at their university’s clinic. By the time SLP students graduate, they must have completed a minimum of 375 direct treatment hours. Following graduate school, SLPs complete a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) to serve as a transition between being a student and an independent provider.

💜 Doris is excited to get to know our clients and learn about treating all kinds of speech and language disorders while at Words of Wisdom this summer! When she is not studying, Doris enjoys learning how to swim, reading history books, and country dancing.
