We are proud to share that Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital has again been recognized among the nation’s “Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report. This year, five of our pediatric subspecialties earned a spot in the top 50 nationwide, including Cardiology and Heart Surgery; Gastroenterology and GI Surgery; Neonatology; Neurology and Neurosurgery; and Orthopedics.

This achievement reflects the extraordinary talent, dedication and compassion of our entire Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital family.

However, our true measure of success lies in the lives we impact each day. It is an honor to care for every family who trusts us with their precious children.

Mya and her husband, Justice, were overjoyed to learn they were expecting after months of trying to conceive. However, Mya’s pregnancy took an unexpected turn when, at her 34-week ultrasound appointment, she was diagnosed with preeclampsia and immediately admitted to Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital. The next day, baby Zoe was born and was taken to the NICU for specialized care.

“They didn’t just treat Zoe and me medically. They cared about our whole well-being. I had that continuum of care from the OB floor to the NICU to postpartum. I felt cared for, heard and supported at every step,” said Mya.

On World Heart Day, we celebrate our heart heroes like Rylee Noble, a determined teenager who inspires everyone around her with her resilience and determination, despite the many challenges life has thrown her way. Diagnosed with Hurler-Scheie syndrome at just 10 years old and braving open heart surgery by 15, Rylee hasn’t had an easy journey.

At 15 months old, Matty was diagnosed with Bilateral Retinoblastoma (eye cancer). He recently completed a two-year maintenance period following his last chemo treatment. Still, for almost a year, Matty and his family traveled from out of town for his treatment with the pediatric cancer program at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Going through cancer treatment was a tough battle for Matty and his family, but even on bad days, Matty always found a way to smile and give his parents the hope they needed to continue. By sharing their story, Matty’s mom wants to remind other families going through a child’s cancer diagnosis to take a moment and remember to celebrate the small wins.

With the support of the Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital care team, Matty and his family were able to learn more about his diagnosis and find helpful resources for the family. “Thank you to our care team for all you have done to support us through each visit, and not just Matty, but us as a family. We really appreciate each of you,” Matty’s mom says.

Yussef was diagnosed with liver cancer in February 2025. He started treatment when he was diagnosed and recently rang the bell for ending treatment! “Yussef’s courage, determination, and unwavering spirit have been a source of inspiration—not only for our family, but for everyone who meets him,” his father Ahmed said.

While going through his treatment process Yussef has found comfort and strength in the support of those around him. “We are deeply grateful to the entire Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital care team for your dedication, kindness, and compassion,” his father Ahmed says. “Your care has not only treated his illness, but also lifted his spirit and given us hope.”

By sharing their journey, Ahmed wants to remind other families going through a child’s cancer diagnosis not to lose hope. “Lean on the love of your family and friends, and remember that every step forward—no matter how small—is a victory worth celebrating," Ahmed says.
