Slade's Pediatric Heart Transplant Story at CMHH
Slade didn’t really know what normal life was like — all he knew was his tired, sick heart. Diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, Slade had been in and out of hospitals for many years, and the time came when Slade’s medical team knew he needed a heart transplant. Our Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital patients were thrilled about an extra special visit from the Kendra Scott and Houston Rockets teams. The Kendra Scott team graciously donated jewelry by providing their fabulous color bar, where patients were able to customize their own jewelry designs to take home. The visit from Rockets’ legend Mario Elie, the Clutch City Dancers, and Clutch the Bear made the event especially fun and memorable. A huge thank you to these teams as well as our Child Life and Volunteer teams for their time and efforts to make this amazing event happen for our patient families.

CMHH Pediatric OR Grand Opening
Before the holidays, we were thrilled to welcome patients to our new Children’s Day Surgery area. The 'Under the Sea' themed space is just as advanced as it is beautiful with a state-of-the-art surgical environment for children, and features family-friendly waiting rooms, parent break areas, a procedure room, and new pre-op, operating and post-op rooms.
