Shoulder pain that won’t go away? It could be a rotator cuff tear.
The rotator cuff plays a critical role in stabilizing the shoulder and allowing smooth overhead motion. Tears can develop gradually over time or occur after an acute injury.
The important thing to know:
Not every tear requires surgery.
Treatment decisions depend on symptoms, strength, function, activity level, and imaging findings.
If you’re having persistent pain, weakness, or night symptoms, early evaluation matters. Chronic untreated tears can progress and become more difficult to repair.
