Looking for a studio where you can come home to you — no gimmicks, no fluff, no bs?

A brand new yoga studio just opened its doors in Katy, TX and for a limited time is offering its unlimited membership at a crazy low rate to the first 10 people to sign up.

Right now there is a limited schedule of 3 classes each week, but with more to come!

So come roll out your mat with us and try your first class for free!

At Flow & Function, we prioritize a sustainable approach to practicing yoga because yoga is for life, but in order to be able to have an enjoyable practice for years to come, injury prevention and individual anatomy must be considered.

And because we know mastering a handstand isn’t going to give you any inner peace…

No. Inner peace requires that you slow down, get present, befriend your mind, and understand what exactly does yoga have to teach us anyways.

And while yoga trends come and go, practice techniques change and evolve, yoga’s teachings have stood the test of time.

It’s that part, understanding the nature of mind and reality, that will allow you to find the freedom to flow with the river of life.

Open social media, turn on your TV, walk down your street… you’re going to find something that spikes your nervous system. Driving, working, raising kids, even yoga... it all adds up!

So, you’ve mastered the art of nervous system stimulation. But what happens when you sit still?

Do you feel like you have to do all the dishes before you deserve rest? Need a drink (or 2 or 3) to turn your brain off?

You’re someone who is full of passion and love for your life, so what happens when injury or illness sidelines you and you can’t “burn off the stress”?

Stare at the walls and scream? Rip your hair out?

Probably not that helpful.

Your nervous system is going to get ramped up on the daily, it’s a necessary part of being alive.

Your nervous system needs to know how to downregulate. That’s where meditation and somatics come in — they help you find calm amidst the chaos.

If sitting still sounds scary, you’re not alone. But you don’t have to go from stressed to zen AF in one go.

Flow & Function is a yoga class that will teach you how.

Maybe you think this is impossible for you. Maybe you think I can’t understand what it’s like inside your head.

Maybe. But I know this: I live in a body that’s easily overstimulated, tends to be sensory seeking, has survived complex trauma, and I have learned how to drop into deep states of peace.

It’s because this was such a struggle for me that I get it. You crave calm, but your mind and body won’t cooperate.

The truth is, you can cultivate a sense of calm that comes from within.

Flow & Function is your starting point.

Gentle movement, breathwork, and somatic practices designed to soothe your nervous system.

No judgment, just a safe space to explore what works for you.

Ready to give it a try? Your first class is free and our unlimited monthly pricing right now can’t be beat!

Most everything in life is goal-oriented – do this = get that.

Do well in high school = go to college.

Go to college = land a good job.

Get a good job = afford all the things you want/need.

Show up to train, work hard, compete, be a good teammate, compete, put in the time and the reps = earn your next belt.

Practice yoga = get more flexible… Wait, that’s not quite right; that’s not what yoga’s actually meant to teach.

The thing is, the goals you entered yoga hoping to achieve are often the obstacles you’ll need to overcome on your path to yoga.

The truth is, at the root of goals often sits attachment to a desired outcome. If I accomplish X, then I’ll definitely have Y. The X in the yoga world goes something like this…

If I get more flexible or conquer a handstand, then I’ll be healthier, I’ll have a cool accomplishment, and others will see me as capable and worthy.

But you’re already worthy, handstand or not. And flexibility doesn’t guarantee lifelong health; nothing is certain like that.

Here’s the rub…

We’re meant to learn how to deal with change and impermanence by embracing a non-attached vantage point.

But how do you do that when most yoga classes focus on poses looking a certain way, or that if you keep trying one day you’ll be able to keep your front shin straight in pigeon?

The truth is, it can be hard to practice yoga in most yoga classes.

But you’re craving more than surface-level yoga benefits. You want the deep ones that really make a change.

That’s where Flow & Function comes in.

Here yoga’s teachings take center stage, and pose achievement takes a backseat.

We use a practice technique that allows you to interact with yoga philosophy in real time without worrying about “if you’re doing it right or not.”

Here you learn to be in flow with your mind, honoring how YOUR body moves, so your practice functions as an anchor in your life (and not just a quick downward dog when your boss moves up a deadline).

If this sounds like the yoga you’d like, I invite you to Flow & Function. Your first class is free so you can experience what yoga is really about.

Have you ever been in a yoga class and thought, nice try 😂 but that’s just not how my hips work?

Or wondered when is child’s pose ever going to be comfortable in my knees or ankles?

Yoga has a dirty little secret that people are only now beginning to talk about — yoga injuries.

But wait, isn’t yoga supposed to be good for your body?

In reality, yoga’s deepest benefits come from integrating mind & body, from developing focus & concentration, from attuning to sensation and developing a trusting relationship with your human body.

And yet, if you go to most classes it feels a lot more like a choreographed dance with a dash of acrobatics that’s a continuous cardiovascular workout.

As you struggle to keep up and follow the teacher’s instructions, you may notice a little twinge here and something that makes you scrunch your face to restrain from grunting or saying “ouch” out loud, but you push through it because the teacher said to put your feet like that.

What about listening to your own body?

A lot of people, especially athletes and those with sports or performance backgrounds, will assume that the teacher knows what’s best, but unfortunately generic alignment cues simply just don’t work for all bodies. And worse, may actually lead to dysfunction and chronic pain for some individuals.

At Flow & Function, the emphasis is on moving with integrity, from your center, feeling into your connective pathways, and caring for the body you actually have - not the body you think you should have.

All bodies are a little different — we have all the same basic stuff (the bones, muscles, connective tissues and nerves) but the way we’re put together is unique.

Your body has a story to tell.

Here, yoga is about exploration not performance or perfection.

By slowing down and learning to listen to the wisdom within, you gain access to parts you’ve hidden away and unlock new possibilities — both in how you move and in how you see yourself.

Yoga has lost the forest for the tree (pose).

In most classes, you are taught how to do poses, where to put your feet, where to gaze, where to put your hands, etc but you are taught very little about the entire point of a yoga practice.

You’re also told to be present to sensation and listen to your body, for people new to the practice there’s so much Hokey Pokey going on there’s no space to actually be here now when you’re worried if you’re supposed to put your right foot in front or your left.

If you’ve ever felt lost or overwhelmed in a yoga class, you’re not alone. And there’s a better way to the richness that yoga has to offer.

Yoga has evolved from its meditative roots from centuries ago into a fitness-centric workout where a focus on posture and form has been touted as the secret to a deeper practice as if straightening your spine will align your chakras and somehow allow you to shoot out of your body right into enlightenment.

Take it from someone who perfected postures for a decade only to end up with more back pain than I started, alignment does matter, but not in the ways that you think.

You don’t build a house by starting with the outside walls first. You start from within.

Unfortunately, there’s so many teaching who do not know why we do what we do just that this is the way they were taught. Teachers have been taught to accept and not to question.

So what happens is a lot of stuff that might make sense for some gets applied to all. And pop culture demand for extreme flexibility and fancy tricks gets packaged and sold without ever asking… to what end?

Yoga is a practice of questioning.

A practice of going within to find out what’s there.

A practice of becoming curious about who you are and what you’re made of.

In classes, you’re told to listen to your body, then you’re told to do it like this and not like that.

But .function.yoga is different.

Here the reason is baked right in the entire experience— to be here now, to get curious, to see what’s present, to cultivate mental fortitude, to find peace within.

So you think you’re tough.

You train hard.

You show up at the gym several times a week to work on yourself.

You are disciplined with yourself — sleep enough, eat well, and show up every day to train hard.

You feel good about yourself for how you are taking care of yourself — physically, mentally and spiritually.

So it’s easy for you to push yourself in yoga classes too.

You even enjoy how difficult some of the poses feel.

You love that big stretch because like everything you do, you’re there to go hard, so if it doesn’t hurt a little, is it even worth it?

But what happens when you suffer an injury?

When that twinge you have been ignoring in chaturanga turns into shoulder impingement because you pushed through the pain?

Or when your journey to touching your toes turns into a battle with hamstring tendonosis because you think that enduring discomfort in every single forward fold is how you deepen your practice?

What happens when something happens that takes away the only outlet you have for dealing with the untamed beast that is your mind?

What do you do when you can’t?

When the only thing you’ve been taught is a healthy way to cope with stress becomes a source of stress?

A mindset of “no pain, no gain” can certainly have some benefits for some people some of the time, but if this is your only way of relating to your body, odds are you have an abundance of discipline to GO, but having the discipline to be still and to listen to your body is the real challenge.

Yoga isn’t just a journey through a series of poses meant to challenge you physically.

Yoga is a practice that shows you who you are, how you see yourself, how you relate to yourself, and leads you to experiencing the wholeness of who you are.

I’m not saying to never challenge yourself or to push yourself to find where your edge is.

I’m just asking, is that all you got bro?

When your physical comfort zone is GO… SLOW is what leads you to exploring where your mental edges lie.

This is where you tap into the real benefits of yoga — the discipline, and mental fortitude, that can only come from stillness.

Come see for yourself.

So you’re curious about yoga…

Maybe you’ve even started to practice a little and are starting to feel more open, relaxed more at ease, but in class you’re not really sure if you’re doing it right or if you’re supposed to be feeling it in the right places because you certainly don’t look anything like what the teacher is showing.

While you’ve heard about some of the mind-body benefits that come from practicing yoga, every class you’ve been to feels more like a workout and seems to be lacking on the work in, and you’re ready to expand your practice into something that translates to the rest of your life.

Or maybe you’re brand new to yoga and you have some reservations because you don’t think you’re very flexible and what you’ve seen looks like twister and you’re pretty sure that is no longer compatible with your body anymore.

Perhaps you’ve had a lifetime of being hard on your body. Whether it’s from the enjoyment of physical challenge and sports like football, soccer, marathon running or cutting to make weight for BJJ or from self-punishment in the form of using diet and exercise to try and fix your body image that if you could just look a certain way then you’d like yourself more — being hard on your body catches up to you eventually.

Here you’ll find a movement practice that teaches you how to honor your unique body and challenge yourself in ways that are safe and sustainable, one that teaches you more about the joy of celebrating who you are – without needing to perform or achieve anything.

You are welcome here!

Come meet us on Saturday 10/17 at 8:30 am at Rilion Gracie Academy - Katy,TX and come find out what makes Flow & Function the clear advantage for a yoga practice that helps you scientifically reduce tension and stress, recovery faster, and develop mind-body control.

Flow & Function is a place where you get to meet yourself, to go within and experience yourself from the inside out, to feel how you are connected, and to play with what’s possible when you honor the body you have not the one you think you should have.

Ever walked into a yoga class and felt completely overwhelmed? You're not alone!

The "all levels" vinyasa flow is really anything but... The rapid pace, complex choreography, and the unspoken expectation that if you can’t touch your toes you’re a long way from self-realization can leave folks feeling lost and discouraged.

Here’s the real truth – mainstream yoga excludes those who need it most. The very people seeking stress relief and deeper peace are intimidated by the pressure to perform. (Which is actually antithetical to yoga anyways.)

What if yoga was about exploring your body at your own pace? And in doing so, you learn how you’re put together, uniquely you, with everything you need already within.

Somatic yoga offers a playground for self-discovery, where you can connect with your inner landscape, mentally, emotionally and energetically… without needing to ever become a pretzel.

Curious? I’m here to break down the barriers to a depper, meaningful yoga practice and create the space for everyone to thrive.
