🦻 Ear Infection Tips

I saw five ear infections yesterday, so let’s talk prevention and care!

How They Start

Most ear infections start as viral, caused by colds or allergies. Fluid buildup leads to pain and pressure.

Home Remedies
• Warm compresses for pain relief.
• Mullein garlic drops and saline nasal sprays to reduce fluid.
• Hyland’s Cold Remedies or Infant Cold Calm for gentle symptom relief.
• Sovereign Silver Nasal Spray for immune support.

When It’s Bacterial

Watch for worsening pain after 48 hours, fever over 102°F, or ear drainage—these may need antibiotics.

Pro Tip

Pair antibiotics with probiotics to support gut health!

Be Prepared

A home otoscope or ear camera helps you spot early signs. Healthy sinuses = healthy ears, so keep nasal passages clear!

📢 Important Announcement from Rife Pediatrics 📢

We want to inform our patients and families that Dr. Kohl will no longer be seeing patients in person at our clinic due to family needs that require him to stay closer to home, effective after January 23rd, 2025. We fully support his decision, as he has been commuting six hours to be with us.

However, Dr. Kohl is not leaving us entirely! He will continue to provide telemedicine services and functional medicine consults, offering the same compassionate care virtually. For in-person visits, our other dedicated providers will be available to ensure you receive the highest level of care.

Dr. Kohl’s last days in the clinic for in-person appointments will be January 21st–23rd. If you’d like to schedule a final in-person visit with him, please contact us as soon as possible.

Thank you for understanding, and let’s show our gratitude to Dr. Kohl for his ongoing commitment to our patients! 💙

We’re Here to Help Keep Your Family Healthy!

Lately, we’ve been seeing an increase in cases of RSV and pertussis (whooping cough). With colds and viruses making the rounds, we want to remind everyone to take extra steps to stay healthy:
• Wash hands often with soap and water.
• Disinfect surfaces like toys, door handles, and phones.
• Cover your coughs and sneezes.
• Keep kids home if they’re feeling sick to prevent spreading germs.
• Pay attention to how your child’s chest and belly move when they’re breathing normally. This way, if they get sick, you’ll notice any unusual changes right away!

If your little one is coughing, wheezing, or struggling to breathe, don’t hesitate to call us. Early care can make all the difference.
