1. The Truth About Hormonal Birth Control
Hormonal birth control doesn’t just shut down ovulation, it disconnects women from their bodies, intuition, and even personalities.

Coming off it after 10 years felt like meeting the real me. I even liked different types of men. (And thank God I chose my partner off the pill.)

Physically, it’s no better:

Progestin, the synthetic version of progesterone, increases risk of breast cancer, anxiety, and depression and offers none of the real hormone’s benefits

Every year you don’t ovulate, you lose ~1% of your bone density (Dr. Jerilynn Prior) Think about how many women are on the pill for decades. That’s not benign.

2. Your period app can’t tell you when you ovulate. So turn off the ovulation prediction and start to get to know your cycle like a big girl. Stop relying on AI or tech to tell you what your body is doing or feeling and start connecting to your cyclical hormonal rhythm. After you do this you’ll notice downloads and synchronicities like never before.

3. If you’re in perimenopause stop taking advice from influencers or practitioners in their 20s who have no clue what it’s like to be in perimenopause. What works for them is not going to work for you.

4. IVF can be a godsend for some couples and it’s amazing that it exists. But most couples don’t actually need it.

Too many are rushed into IVF without a proper workup. Underlying conditions like endometritis, endometriosis, and mismanaged PCOS often go undiagnosed, making both natural conception and IVF less likely to succeed.
Before jumping into IVF, make sure you:

5 things to start doing NOW if you’re truing to conceive a baby asap 👶⁠

1. Red Light Therapy- Implementing 10-12 mins of red light therapy over your womb daily (during your follicular phase) can help stimulate blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, as well as promote egg integrity and mitochondrial health. Did you know the female egg is the largest cell in the human body and the richest in mitochondria?/⁠

2. Castor Oil Packs- Wear a castor oil pack over your abdomen 4-5 times a week to stimulate blood flow to your ovaries and uterus. They also can help break up scar tissue and break down cysts, which can impede fertility. If you are currently TTC, discontinue after ovulation. My fave reusable castor oil packs are from .⁠

3. Acupuncture- Acupuncture promotes blood flow to the ovaries and uterus. Are you picking up on a a common theme here? 😉 There is a TON of research showing that acupuncture increases rates of healthy pregnancies in IVF & IUI, which is why most fertility clinics recommend it. ⁠

4. Optimize Gut Health - If you have gut issues, like bloating, constipation, gas, etc, don’t ignore these! Gut imbalances and infections like parasites, yeast overgrowth, opportunistic bacteria overgrowth, and gram negative bacteria (like h.pylori) can damage egg and s***m quality and change pH balance of va**na and cervical mucus. These imbalances can make it difficult to conceive or maintain pregnancies. This is why I run a comprehensive stool test on all of my clients.⁠

5. Antioxidant Support - We want the best quality egg and s***m when it comes to conception. Remember- it’s quality over quantity (basically don’t put too much emphasis on that AMH test ok babe?). To the boy who made me a mother. Who cracked me open and allowed me to know what it was like to live selflessly. Who brought love into my life again after being widowed.

Motherhood for me came with lots of mixed emotions. I find out I was pregnant & shortly after I awakened to the reality that the relationship with his bio father was not going to survive.

Being a single mother was hard. To go to midwife appointments alone, Hypnobirthing alone, give birth without a partner, & all the night feedings solo was difficult. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Luckily, when Leo was only 7 months, we met my now husband who is the best Dad anyone could ask for.

This Mother’s Day also comes with heartbreak bc we lost our pregnancy just a few months ago at 9 weeks.

And to make it even more heavy, today would have been the 47th birthday of my late husband Dominic, who we lost 5 years ago.

The moral of the story? There will always be sadness along with the joy. They are one and the same in a sense because to grieve is to have loved. And to love is the greatest gift in the world. One that transcends life & death.

To all the women experiencing loss and grieving today, I SEE YOU.

Although some people can get pregnant right away, it certainly isn’t the safest or healthiest way to get pregnant.

Many OBs will tell you to continue to take birth control up until the month you’re ready to get pregnant. Here’s the problem with that.

😳Birth control depletes essential nutrients needed for a healthy pregnancy, such as folate, B vitamins & magnesium.

❗️The most important stages of embryonic development happen within the first 8 weeks! Donate nutrient stores you’ve built before conceiving are the most crucial. Not the prenatal you take after.

Folate is especially crucial. If you’re deficient in folate going into pregnancy (which you will be if you have just gotten of birth control) , your baby will most likely be as well. This also puts you at higher risk of miscarriage & tongue ties at birth!

😫If you’re going into pregnancy with depleted nutrient stores, this is also setting you up for a more fatigued & challenging postpartum period, with higher risks of postpartum depression.

My fertility journey wasn’t straightforward. But age is just a number. AMH is a just number. There is no fertility cliff you fall off of at 35. And if you’re currently & not getting pregnant don’t wait 6-12 months as recommended by your OB to investigate. Start now!

I was 37 when I gave birth & was considered geriatric. I got pregnant easily even though doctors told me growing up my PCOS would make it difficult to get pregnant naturally.

Many couples rely on cycle tracking apps or ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) to pinpoint ovulation. While these tools can be helpful, relying on them alone might cause you to miss your fertile window!

Apps use algorithms to estimate ovulation, but no app can tell you exactly when you’ll ovulate — only predict it. Ovulation can shift each month, especially if you experience stress, illness, or travel. For example, if you typically ovulate around day 12-14 but get sick, ovulation might be delayed.

The most reliable way to know your fertile window is by tracking cervical mucus (CM) and basal body temperature (BBT). Leading up to ovulation, CM becomes clear, slippery, and stretchy, like raw egg whites. After ovulation, it turns sticky or dry. Meanwhile, BBT rises and stays elevated post-ovulation due to the thermogenic effect of progesterone.

Tracking CM and BBT not only confirms ovulation but also reveals the length of your luteal phase (the days after ovulation). A luteal phase of at least 11 days indicates healthy progesterone levels, which are essential for sustaining pregnancy.

OPKs can still be useful, especially alongside CM and BBT tracking. But they shouldn’t be your sole guide — especially if you have PCOS, as multiple LH surges can occur without actual ovulation. Remember, OPKs predict ovulation, but only CM and BBT can confirm it.
