You have a thyroid receptor in every cell of your body. Meaning, it’s an integral part of healthy ovulation, implantation, and a full term pregnancy.⁠

Here’s why each one matters for fertility:⁠

TSH – This is the signal from your brain to your thyroid. When levels are too high or too low, it can disrupt ovulation, shorten the luteal phase, and increase miscarriage risk.⁠

Free T4 – This is the main hormone your thyroid produces. Your body must convert it into the active hormone (T3). If levels are low, your metabolism, egg quality, and hormone balance can all be affected.⁠

Free T3 – This is the *active* thyroid hormone that your cells actually use. Low Free T3 can impact egg development, progesterone production, implantation, and overall energy needed for pregnancy.⁠

TPO & TGAB antibodies – Many women with fertility struggles or recurrent miscarriages have thyroid antibodies- even when their TSH looks “normal.” Thyroid antibodies can increase inflammation and interfere with implantation and pregnancy maintenance.⁠

A “normal” thyroid screen that only checks TSH often misses these underlying issues.⁠

1. The Truth About Hormonal Birth Control
Hormonal birth control doesn’t just shut down ovulation, it disconnects women from their bodies, intuition, and even personalities.

Coming off it after 10 years felt like meeting the real me. I even liked different types of men. (And thank God I chose my partner off the pill.)

Physically, it’s no better:

Progestin, the synthetic version of progesterone, increases risk of breast cancer, anxiety, and depression and offers none of the real hormone’s benefits

Every year you don’t ovulate, you lose ~1% of your bone density (Dr. Jerilynn Prior) Think about how many women are on the pill for decades. That’s not benign.

2. Your period app can’t tell you when you ovulate. So turn off the ovulation prediction and start to get to know your cycle like a big girl. Stop relying on AI or tech to tell you what your body is doing or feeling and start connecting to your cyclical hormonal rhythm. After you do this you’ll notice downloads and synchronicities like never before.

3. If you’re in perimenopause stop taking advice from influencers or practitioners in their 20s who have no clue what it’s like to be in perimenopause. What works for them is not going to work for you.

4. IVF can help some couples yes. But most couples don’t actually need it.

Too many are rushed into IVF without a proper workup. Underlying conditions like endomeTRITIS, endometriosis, & isthmocele often go undiagnosed, making both natural conception and IVF less likely to succeed.

🛑 Before jumping into IVF, make sure you:

🥚 Fertilization Success: Healthy, motile s***m are more likely to fertilize an egg successfully. Poor s***m quality can lead to failed fertilization or weak embryos.⁠

❣️Embryo Development: Even after fertilization, s***m quality affects how the embryo grows. High oxidative stress in s***m can cause DNA damage, compromising embryo viability and increasing early pregnancy loss risk.⁠

🩸 Placental Health: S***m influences placental development, which sustains pregnancy. Poor-quality s***m can impair this process, leading to complications or pregnancy failure.⁠

How hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can help during perimenopause 👇⁠

Despite common belief, hormonal balance is not achievable during perimenopause… Because perimenopause is a state of hormone imbalance due to the natural decline of s*x hormones.⁠

When it comes to perimenopause, I often see clients prescribed testosterone FIRST. Here is why this doesn’t work.. ⁠

With testosterone alone, you may feel better at first, but supraphysiologic doses can cause high androgen symptoms and make estrogen receptor sites weaker.⁠

Here’s the truth about HRT during perimenopause:⁠

✅ Progesterone is usually the first hormone to drop (often starting around 35)⁠
✅ I recommend starting with progesterone + supportive nutrition, exercise, and nervous system care⁠
✅ In many cases, DHEA & testosterone naturally balance afterward — no HRT needed⁠

⁠HRT can help during perimenopause, but the key lies in ⁠using it in the right order. ⁠
