Dr. Regina Rodman is a facial plastic surgeon who is able to treat a wide range of problems in the face and neck. She did her residency in Otolaryngology (ENT surgery) at the University of Texas Houston where she was chief resident her final year, and was voted as resident of the year for her outstanding performance. She was then selected to do advanced training in facial plastic, reconstructive and craniomaxillofacial surgery at SUNY Upstate in New York. Her fellowship is the one of the only facial plastic fellowships that focuses on craniofacial surgery as well as complex head and neck reconstruction. Because she specifically focuses on the face, she is able to perform a range of procedures that enhance both bony and soft tissue problems. “I believe that everyone deserves to feel good about the way they look. Whether someone is born with a defect, had cancer, trauma, or simply wishes to improve some aspect their face, I will work with them achieve an appearance that makes them happy. ”

Brow Bossing and Orbital Rim Reduction, Browlift ✨
This patient is 4 months post-op from Type 3 brow bossing reduction, orbital rim reduction, and browlift. The reduction in the bony ledge of her brow bone and orbital rim have allowed more light to come into the eyes. This creates a brighter, softer, and more feminine appearance. The browlift raises the brow into an arch, which is feminine and refreshed. The combination of these procedures helped brighten and feminize the upper third of their face.

What implants are available as standard and which have to be custom made? Not all implants are the same 👀 Dr. Rodman explains the difference between standard and custom facial implants.

Custom Implant before and after, inside and the outside! Here is a real example of a custom jaw implant plus genioplasty. You see the CT scan before surgery, her before photo ➡️ her custom implant plan design and her photos 1 year after the custom implant was placed. 1 year post-op after jaw asymmetry correction with custom jaw implants. At this point, swelling has gone done and results have settled, giving more definition and contour to the patient's jaw.

Who needs a custom implant #3: Size or shape you want not available in standard. This patient originally had standard jaw implants, but wanted to go bigger. He already had the biggest size possible, so he decided to create a custom implant with the exact shape and size he dreamed of. You can see the difference in size and shape when on is overlayed on top of the other! The old implants were removed, the custom one was placed, and wow! What a difference.

Who needs custom implants #2: Obvious Asymmetry. While everyone has some asymmetry to their jaw, a few people have asymmetry that is more than average. In cases where it is obvious (more than you see it), Custom jaw implants can be used. The implant is designed on one side (the good side) and then that final shape is mirrored to the other side. An implant is created to fill the desired shape. The two implants are created differently inside so the outline will be symmetric 🔥

Who needs a custom implant #1: Previous implant in bad position. Here is a CT scan of the patient's current implant (surgery done elsewhere) ➡️ and the planning for the new custom implants. In surgery, his old crooked implant was removed -> The new custom jaw implant fit his anatomy perfectly 👌 A custom implant is often needed in these cases because the crooked implant creates bony erosion and grooves that make any other standard implant want to fall into the same crooked position. A custom implant fills any gaps and creates projection in the right places.
