January 13-17 is Sugar Awareness Week
Sugar (also called Carbohydrates) can be very destructive to our teeth. Bacteria which live in our oral environment produce an acid when exposed to sugar or carbohydrates (such as crackers or chips). That acid then dissolves the minerals that make up the enamel – the outer layer which protects our teeth. The enamel becomes porous, which means tiny holes begin to form on the enamel. These holes become bigger and bigger, and this is essentially the cavity that develops on teeth.
That is bad enough news but increased sugar/carbohydrate consumption has been found to lead to many serious health issues as well.
This month would be a great time for all of us to become more aware of how much sugar we and our children are eating.

Thank you to Grace England Early Childhood and Pre-K Center for inviting us to CAREER DAY on Friday Oct. 25! Evelyn and I had a wonderful time explaining to over 400 precious students what we do at our dental offices to help children care for their teeth and oral environment - both at the office and at home! Along with daily brushing and flossing we stressed the importance of making HEALTHY SNACK CHOICES and drinking WATER as often as possible!
Thank you so much to Grace England for inviting us to participate! We truly enjoyed sharing our day with your Awesome Students and Staff - many of them dressed in the absolute cutest career outfits as you can see!👩‍⚕️👮‍♂️👩‍🍳👩‍🎤👩‍🚒
