When you wake up in the morning and your body actually feels rested… nothing beats that feeling. ☀️

No grogginess.
No brain fog.
No running on fumes.

Just waking up refreshed—like your body finally did what it was designed to do. ✨

So many people schedule everything except their health…
but quality sleep isn’t a luxury - it’s a priority.

If you’re ready to stop surviving your days and start waking up energized, focused, and breathing better, I can help make that a real, achievable reality.

Your sunshine starts the night before.

I had the honor of shadowing Dr. Gandhi during airway consults and a functional frenuloplasty for a sweet baby, including an upper lip tie release - and I’m still soaking it all in.

Watching airway-centered, intentional care in action for our tiniest humans is incredibly powerful. It was inspiring, humbling, and a beautiful reminder of why I do what I do.

I feel beyond blessed to work alongside one of the great pediatric dental doctors in the Houston area - collaborating to help children sleep better, breathe better, and truly thrive.

This is the work.
This is the why.
And this is just the beginning. 🤍✨

Hey parents! 👋
If you’re in the Sugar Land or surrounding Houston area and looking for an amazing holistic pediatric provider, look no further ✨

Meet Dr. Pasdar and her incredible nurse practitioner, Nafisat Elias-Salawu, at Select Internal Medicine & Pediatrics.

They truly take a whole-child approach, looking beyond quick fixes and really getting to the root of what’s going on with your child. If you value thoughtful care, education, and providers who consider lifestyle, prevention, and long-term wellness—not just prescriptions—these two are absolute gems.

I highly recommend checking them out! 💛

Is your child (or someone you know) a picky eater, mouth breather, or constant fidgeter? 🙋‍♀️
The common thread might be Sensory Processing!

Here are some key facts on the connection between Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD):

Because oral motor control depends so heavily on sensory feedback, it’s very common for children and adults with SPD to also present with OMDs.

🧠 Treating OMDs through a sensory lens means combining the expertise of:
✨ Occupational Therapy (OT) — to address sensory processing challenges
💪 Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) — to retrain the oral muscles using the newly organized sensory information

This collaboration creates a more holistic, integrated, and effective approach.

I loved connecting with OT Chani Stewart today to talk about how OMDs — like tongue thrust or improper rest posture — are often tied to how a child or adult’s nervous system processes touch and movement.

💡 A few examples:
• Someone who gags easily (hypersensitive) or drools constantly (hyposensitive) may struggle to develop correct oral motor skills.
• Chronic mouth breathing often relates to low oral tone/awareness (hyposensitivity) or compensatory breathing patterns from difficulty managing nasal airflow — a full-body sensory pattern.

I’m so excited to partner with Chani to support more families together!
By combining our perspectives, we can offer comprehensive, compassionate care and help parents make sense of the things they’re noticing in their kids that don’t always add up. 💛

Hi, I’m Lauren Vowell 👋🏼
I’m a Registered Dental Hygienist with 20+ years of experience and a passion for Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.

For the past 2½ years, I’ve helped patients — ages 4½ to 80 — breathe, sleep, and function better through personalized myo therapy. 🌿

My philosophy? If you live on this earth, you can benefit from myofunctional therapy. 💫

When I’m not working with patients (in person or virtually), you’ll find me rock climbing, soaking up nature, or applying the same breathing and body awareness I teach to my own life and sports performance.

I often collaborate with other airway-minded providers to address things like tongue ties, mouth breathing, and functional performance — including better sleep and enhanced sports performance — helping people unlock their best selves, one breath at a time. 💛
