Big gratitude to Ecolab for awarding Innovative Alternatives Inc. a grant for general operating $upport!

This investment helps sustain accessible mental health counseling, mediation, and trauma-informed services for 2,500+ clients annually - 70% of whom are low-income families in Houston. It supports our clinicians, facilities, and sliding-scale services while strengthening long-term stability and reducing reliance on restricted funding.

Ecolab - WOW.

Starting the day with this kind of partnership is exactly how progress happens.

Grateful. Focused. Building forward.

2026: The Year of Whole-Body Health

This year isn't about 'new you'- it's about a better cared-for you. Focus on the link between your mind and body.

🌿 Mind: 5 + minutes of daily mindfulness and choosing boundaries over burnout.

🏃‍♀️ Body: Moving for joy, not just to hit a number. 30-minute walks, drink lots of water and have nourishing meals. **Or hit the gym hard and fast if able to!

Balance > Perfection. Who's with me?

As this year comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect.

At Innovative Alternatives, we’ve had the honor of walking alongside thousands of individuals and families during some of their most challenging moments. Healing isn’t easy, but it is possible and we’ve seen courage, growth, and resilience every single day.

Tomorrow, 2026, we begin again.

Not to erase the heart work of this year, but to continue the work of hope and healing.

Thank you to our clients, team, and community for trusting us and standing with us this year. We’re stepping into the new year with gratitude and purpose. 💙

The Houston Texans clearly mastered coping skills, teamwork, communication and finishing strong yesterday.

Our own Cindy Moreno was there to “supervise” the win. Not saying she brought the luck but….. it can’t be disproven.

Feeling lonely this holiday season? You’re not alone

As SAMHSA highlights in their blog, the holidays can bring up strong emotions - including loneliness, stress, grief, or sadness - for many people, even when others seem joyful. It’s completely valid to experience these feelings, and they don’t mean something is “wrong” with you.

Tips and support resources that can help:

• Acknowledge and name what you’re feeling rather than pushing it aside — recognizing your emotions is the first step toward managing them.

• Build a plan for moments when loneliness feels strong - this could include reaching out to someone, going for a walk, or engaging in a comforting activity.

• Practice self-care and maintain routines that help ground you, such as healthy sleep, movement, or creative outlets like music or art.

• Connect with resources like crisis lines (e.g., 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline) or support groups if you need someone to talk to. (findhelp.org) (https://www.mygriefangels.org/holidays-.html)

🎄✨ Holiday Check-In: How’s Your Stress Level? ✨🎄

Between Christmas gatherings, end-of-year deadlines, financial pressure, and family expectations, the holidays can quietly stack stress on our minds and our bodies.

The Holmes-Rahe Life Stress Test (shared here) is a simple, one-page tool that helps you see how life events, both joyful and tough, add up. High stress levels aren’t just emotional; they can impact physical health too, contributing to things like high blood pressure, cholesterol issues, and even heart conditions. *You can save the image and take this stress test from your phone. For each relevant event, put an X next to the value then total it up at the bottom.

As we near Christmas and glance into the New Year, consider this an invitation-not to overhaul your life—but to become aware.

- Awareness leads to choice.
-Choice leads to small changes.
- Small, consistent changes can make a big difference in 2026.

Whether it’s better sleep, setting boundaries, asking for support, or taking a few quiet moments for yourself - progress doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.

Here’s to closing out this year with compassion for yourself and stepping into the new one with intention, one small step at a time.
