This message is an update regarding the availability of ADD medications.
If you, or someone in your family, does NOT take medication for ADD/ADHD you may ignore this message
The medication shortage that began in 2022 has not improved, with school resuming this fall the shortage is now worse than it's ever been. Most pharmacies are out of stock of Adderall, Zenzedi and Vyvanse. Patients taking these medications may not be able to obtain their medications for weeks or months. Pharmacies cannot predict when they'll receive their next shipment of medications affected by the shortage.
If you have health insurance coverage and can go to any pharmacy here are some alternative medications to try.
Adzenys XR is an orally disintegrating tablet that contains the same active ingredients as Adderall. It begins working within 30-60 minutes and lasts 6-12 hours.
The manufacturer has a discount program that limits copays to $0-75/mo.
Xelstrym is a transdermal patch that contains the same active ingredient as Zenzedi or Vyvanse. It should be applied 2 hours before you need it to begin working and removed 9 hours after application.
The manufacturer allows you to try it FREE for thirty days, then your copay should be $0-50/mo.
Xelstrym was released to market in June 2023 so your pharmacy may not have it in stock but should be able to receive it within a few days of ordering. Patients can call 1-800-420-2719 for assistance locating pharmacies that have Xelstrym in stock.
If you have insurance coverage and normally take Adderall tablets, Adderall XR capsules, Zenzedi tablets or Vyvanse capsules you need to try one, or both, of these medications as an alternative to the medications that are in short supply.
