A technique to

A facelift is definitely a surgery of details. One of the techniques I frequently use to enhance jawline definition is partial removal of submandibular glands. This technique is not new, but has become increasingly popular due to surgeons like Dr. Amir Karam, Dr. Andrew Jacono, and Dr. Mike Nayak.

My opinion is that submandibular glands need to addressed in about 85% of necks to enhance jaw line definition and prevent a "bulge" after surgery.

The submandibular glands are not important for saliva production. The only ramifications of removing the submandibular glands are diet restrictions for 2 weeks following surgery with NO LONG TERM EFFECTS.
