Feeding therapy with an OT… did you know bubbles can actually help your child drink from a straw?
At Open Door Pediatric Therapy, we use play with purpose.
Bubble blowing isn’t just fun—it’s building the exact skills your child needs for feeding.
When your child blows bubbles, they’re strengthening lip closure, learning how to control their breath, and coordinating the muscles needed for straw drinking.
It also helps regulate their nervous system, so their body feels calm and safe—which is huge for kids who struggle with eating or drinking.
✨ Fun OT fact: once kids learn to blow bubbles, we can start transferring that same skill to blowing through a straw—making new drinks feel less scary and more familiar.
That’s how we turn play into progress!
