Last weekend, I had the honor of attending the funeral of a patient who had been with me for 33 years. His wife, who was not my patient, graciously called to let me know of his passing, despite all that she was going through. I was so grateful for her thoughtfulness, and I absolutely knew I would be there.
He wasn’t just a patient. He had become a dear friend whom I saw every six months for over three decades. We shared our lives: his incredible sons, whom I had the privilege of caring for as children; the birth and growth of my daughter; college years, marriages, grandchildren, losses, and joys. And always, our shared love of the Astros.
As I sat in the service, I was reminded that yes, I am a dentist—but more importantly, I’m in the relationship business. That’s what fills my heart and gives my work meaning.
We provide incredible care, including veneers, full mouth reconstructions, implants, and more. But what I’m most proud of is what we’re known for: our relationships with the people who trust us with their smiles and their stories.
