It’s Veterans Day. And at PaRC, we find no coincidence that this observance falls in a month known for expressing gratitude and giving thanks.

As we show our appreciation for veterans, we also want those who struggle with a substance use disorder to know that they are supported and help is available. With our Stars & Stripes Program, we offer veteran-specific addiction treatment that is trauma-focused and provided by those who understand what it means to try to find a purpose after serving. In fact, some of our staff members have also proudly served in the military, which brings an extra layer of understanding to how we care for patients.

At PaRC, it is our honor to serve those who served. While we can never fully repay their sacrifice, we pledge to provide every veteran with competent, compassionate and responsive care.

To all our veterans, thank you for your service. Now, it’s our turn to serve you.

At PaRC, we have the utmost respect for those who protect others as first responders. While the job is a selfless and admirable one, we recognize that first responders often need help, too – the stress that accompanies lifesaving, emergency situations can lead to increased mental strain and unhealthy ways of coping, like alcohol or drug use.

If you are someone who puts others first but is struggling, lean on PaRC for substance use treatment that has trauma-focused, customized care to address your unique needs and experiences. With a variety of evidence-based, holistic and interventional treatments, we are honored to help our brave, everyday heroes work through their struggles so that they can address their past, navigate the present and have hope for the future.

In the days leading up to your discharge from PaRC, you will likely experience a range of emotions – from a sense of accomplishment and pride at how far you’ve come, to worry and anxiety about how you will manage real life temptations and triggers outside of treatment.

While these feelings are all valid, understand that our support for you and your journey does not end with your treatment experience. We anticipate the challenges that you may encounter, and we will work with you to create a personalized aftercare plan before you leave so that you feel confident navigating your new sober lifestyle. As an alumnus, you will also receive ongoing support from our team and alumni community as well as regular check-ins to ensure that you continue to make great progress.

Bottom line: whether you are a patient or an alumnus, you’re a part of our family. And we are here to support you every step of the way.

“We repeat what we don’t repair” — has it sunk in yet? Cycles don’t break on their own, including addiction.

The longer you put off getting help, the more trapped you’ll feel within the walls of your destructive habits. And that, in turn, will perpetuate a vicious pattern unless you choose to make a change. Recovery is hard, but living a life in addiction is harder — choose your “hard.”

September is Recovery Month and at PaRC, we believe that choosing recovery is the best decision a person can make.

This month is dedicated to those recovering from a substance use disorder. It’s also for those who give unwavering support to their loved ones. Lastly, it’s a time to acknowledge the providers who help guide people through the winding road of recovery.

Recovery is a journey, not a destination and at PaRC, you will find the village of support you need to succeed and thrive. Learn more about our drug and alcohol treatment program at the following link: https://hubs.la/Q03FmRMq0

All too often people avoid having difficult conversations that they don’t fully grasp. When in reality, discussing tough topics yields a better understanding of them.

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we want to remind you that the first step toward preventing an overdose is talking about it. That is, spreading knowledge about overdose to promote awareness and, if you are struggling with substance use, talking to someone about getting help. Each year, far too many lives are lost to overdose – that alone makes this day a significant one to recognize. Speak up, lives depend on it.

Summer is winding down and everyone is in back-to-school mode. And if your child is struggling with addiction, do you have a plan to help them figure out this complex time of year?

You’re not alone. Let us help by getting to know the Teen Program at PaRC. Our partnership with Archway Academy makes it possible for your child to stay the course with studies after they successfully finish treatment. If you’re struggling with substance use and know it’s time to get help, you’re probably wondering what the treatment experience is like – for instance, will it be uncomfortable talking about my addiction with strangers? And what will interacting with others in recovery feel like?

While each journey is different, every patient at PaRC can expect to be treated with the utmost care, respect and understanding. We recognize your struggle as some of our staff members are in recovery, too, and we admire the fact that you have chosen to get help – there is no judgment here. From the moment you walk through our doors, our goal is for you to develop a fresh perspective on how you want to live your life and then work with you to create a roadmap to get there.

Summer break, vacations, barbecue season… this time of year brings changes not only to the weather, but also to daily routines and social settings. And while many enjoy the outdoor activities that come with the warmer days, the “party” atmosphere can feel more present and challenging than ever for those navigating sobriety.

At PaRC, we believe “the secret to getting ahead is getting started.” That’s why we have compiled a list of recovery support strategies so that you can participate in summer activities while prioritizing your recovery with confidence.

1. Be vocal about your sobriety. It brings accountability.
2. Have a support person on speed dial that you can call if you need help.
3. Go to a meeting before or after the event/party.
4. Don’t put yourself in a vulnerable position or go some place where you are the only sober person.
5. Have a plan or an exit strategy.
