On Monday, 's Dr. Ben Deneen received the inaugural Bert O'Malley Award for Outstanding Basic Research during the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine's annual retreat.

The award is named in honor of the late Dr. Bert W. O'Malley, a pioneer in the field of molecular endocrinology and cancer research. Dr. O'Malley was the Baylor College of Medicine chancellor, former chair of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology and associate director of basic research in the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine.
