Meet The Staff: Ms. Shannon, OT👋🏻

Ms. Shannon is an Occupational Therapist with a special passion for pediatrics. Although she officially graduated last year, Miss Shannon has years of experience supporting individuals across the Autism Spectrum, working with children and adults of nearly all age groups.

Her personal connection to the field runs deep, as her younger brother was diagnosed with autism at age six, and his journey has been an integral part of her own. This experience is what inspired her to become an OT, and it continues to fuel her compassion and commitment to building meaningful relationships with the children and families she works with.

Outside of her professional life, Miss Shannon enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and four rescue cats, all of whom she adopted locally. She is excited to begin this journey and looks forward to connecting with others along the way.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚, 𝐒𝐈👋🏻

Ms. AnnaMaria graduated from Geneseo with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Sociology before earning her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Hunter College. She recently returned to Hunter to pursue Advanced Certification in Special Education.

With over a decade of experience, Ms. AnnaMaria is passionate about working with young learners and has worked across various settings, including home-based care, community organizations, charter schools, and traditional public schools. She is excited to join The Kidz Lounge team as a Special Instructor, where she will continue to support children in their educational journeys.

A native New Yorker from Queens, AnnaMaria is fluent in both Italian and Spanish. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling the world, playing tennis, spinning, practicing pilates, and spending time with family and friends. She is also on a lifelong quest to find the best cannoli

At The Kidz Lounge, we’re proud to show our support in the fight against breast cancer by wearing PINK every Wednesday throughout the month of October! 💖

🩷Our Pink Month Kickoff was a blast, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the month brings! From big smiles to bright outfits and pink socks, even a pink themed obstacle course, we’re all in for this amazing cause.

Let’s come together to raise awareness, show love to the fighters and survivors, and honor those we’ve lost. 💪🏽💕

If your kiddo can’t make it to the office, no worries — you can still join the movement! Just snap a picture of them in pink and send it our way so we can feature them and spread the love! 📸💓

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐬. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚, 𝐒𝐋𝐏 👋🏻

Ms. Stefania is a speech-language pathologist currently completing her Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from St. John’s University and a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Molloy University. In addition, she is a certified Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).

In her current role, Ms. Stefania provides speech and language therapy to preschool and school-aged children in a clinical setting. She collaborates closely with parents, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and fellow speech-language pathologists to support each child’s individual needs. Her clinical experience spans working with clients across the lifespan—from birth to older adults—and encompasses a variety of communication challenges. These include articulation and phonological disorders, apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorders, expressive and receptive language delays, pragmatic language difficulties, and the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Ms. Stefania enjoys experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, staying active at the gym, and relaxing with a thriller novel.

🎗️ 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡— a time to recognize the strength, courage, and resilience of children and families affected by childhood cancer.

💛 Yesterday, we wore yellow in honor of Bella, and in support of all the brave children who are currently fighting, as well as those who have fought and are no longer with us. Each ribbon, each story, and each step forward is a reminder that no one fights alone.

🤝 Together, we stand in solidarity — to raise awareness, inspire hope, and continue the fight for continued treatments and brighter tomorrows.

🌞 Happy First Day of Summer! 🍦☀️

Today in speech therapy, we kicked off summer in the sweetest way possible — with ICE CREAM! 🍨🎉

Our kiddos scooped up some serious learning as they worked on answering questions from a video, practiced their speech sounds, and cherry-topped their language skills by expanding utterances — all through the cool and fun of ice cream-themed activities! 🍒🗣️🎬

It was a sprinkle-filled session of speech, smiles, and summer vibes! 🌈🧁🗨️
