Today is Cochlear Implant Awareness Day! A day to celebrate the life-changing technology that helps individuals hear, connect, and experience the world in brand-new ways. 💛

Since the groundbreaking work of Graeme Clark, cochlear implants have transformed lives across the globe with more than 1 million implants placed worldwide as of 2022.

Today we’re celebrating one of TKL’s littles who is thriving with this incredible technology! Every new milestone is a reminder of how powerful innovation and support can be.

Here’s to big moments, brave journeys, and a world full of sound. ✨

Another milestone celebration is in order… 🎉🥳 Our little one is now drinking from — and confidently holding — a weighted straw cup! 💪🥤 Watching this new skill develop is such an exciting step toward greater independence. Way to go, little superstar! 🌟👏

Cup drinking should be encouraged as early as possible, with bottle use ideally discontinued by 12 months of age. Transitioning to a straw cup or open cup supports healthy oral motor development, promotes positive dental habits, and encourages independent drinking skills. Introducing these alternatives early makes the transition smoother and helps prevent prolonged bottle dependence. ✨

BIG movements happening over here! One of our amazing kiddos is officially on the move — CRAWLING!
We are so proud to celebrate one of our amazing kiddos who recently achieved a HUGE gross motor milestone! ✨ Watching children build strength, confidence, and independence through movement is why we love what we do every single day.

Crawling is such an important gross motor milestone. It builds core strength, shoulder stability, coordination, and sets the foundation for future skills like standing, walking, and even handwriting. But even more importantly, It gives children independence and confidence to explore their world. 

Every child develops at their own pace, and we love being part of the journey. If you have questions about your child’s motor development, we’re here to help.

Way to go, superstar! 🌟 Your hard work, determination, and smiles inspire us all!

Meet The Staff: Ms. Emily, OT 👋🏻

Emily Olsen is an occupational therapist here at The Kidz Lounge. She has recently graduated with her doctorate of occupational therapy from the New York Institute of Technology. She loves working with pediatrics where she can have fun, get creative, and make an impact on little minds.

She especially loves play- based therapy, handwriting skills, and crafts! During her free time she loves to cook and try new recipes.
