When people die I feel that sometimes a story does the best job of pinning down why they were so important to us. So I have a story I would like to share. Once upon a time in 2004 when ACE Home Health Care Services Inc was a twinkle in our eyes, with our bare bones office across the street, we would scoop up our regulatory manuals and all our infant policy and procedure books and go over to see our good friend Bryan....only, here's the funny part, we called him Carl. I cannot tell you how we came to believe that his name was Carl. We would blow in and say "HI CARL!!!" He would seat us and shoot the breeze. He would provide us our favorite beverages without us even asking. We would order dinner and get to work. Home health is frought with complex rules and we wanted to do it right and "Carl" was right there the whole time. We would work for three or four hours sometimes and he kept those drinks full with just enough interruptions with his bright banter to keep us from going crazy. Three full years later we were still showing up at least one night a week and sometimes for lunch with our good buddy Carl. The business grew and flourished and thanks to Carl's care in those early years we didn't go crazy. One fine day he stopped everything and said "I have a question for you guys." "Sure! What can we help you with Carl?" "Can you tell me why you call me Carl?" "Uummmmm.....isn't that your name?????? " No. My name is Bryan." "WHAT?????? You let us call you Carl for almost three years!!! You never thought to mention that your name is actually Bryan?!!" He laughed and said he would answer to anything but today he just really got curious why we always called him Carl. So here's to you Carl (Bryan). When you passed a little piece of ACE history went with you. Thank you for everything and for being a part of our story. Rest in Peace Bryan DeHart.
