Getting back into work is never easy for horses, so why not make the transition easier and less painful for them? Having consistent bodywork sessions will help them recover faster from their exercises, prevent soreness to get them fit faster, and will prevent common injuries.

Iceman being such a good demonstrator of what TMJ dysfunction looks like.

As you can see, his lower jaw is being pulled to his right side (out left from the picture), causing the misalignment that we see here. Having a misaligned jaw can cause muscle tightness i the neck and shoulders of the opposite side due to them compensating for when they chew.

This can be fixed by either myofascial release or ANMR techniques that will cause the deep soft tissues to release tension, creating balance once again.

We got some exciting news!🤩

Here at Better Horse Better Rider we now offer Neuro-Animal Myofascial Release (ANMR)🎊

This technique utilizes a tool called a calibrator that puts motion into the soft tissues surrounding and adjacent to the vertebre column and other joints. With this, it creates a neurological input and soft tissue release to "reset" the body to improve range of motion and posture. This helps us address body misalignment quicker and more accurately than only doing massage.

This is not a chiropractor technique, even though similar tools are used. Rather than use the to to move bones, the to is used to release soft tissues and provide neurological input through quick impulses.

Happy Easter Everyone! Lets talk about our fuzzy friends🤗

You had your Vet do floats and they've cleared your horse to start training, but they still are dropping grain while eating or won't take the bit. Maybe it's time to have your local equine bodyworker to have a look at your horses TMJ.

The Temporomandibular joint is a sliding hinge joint that connects the jawbone to the skull. Like us, when there is dysfunction or imbalance in the muscles of the TMJ it causes pain or discomfort and the horse will compensate to chew. This causes other muscles of the face to be tight or overused creating an even bigger imbalance. With consistent massage and bodywork this TMJ dysfunction will go away with time.
