We are deep into the 2025 show season. How is your horse holding up? The show circuit is just as stressful on your horse as it is on you! Riding in the trailer, portable stalls on cement, eating from hay bags, lights on 24/7, heat and humidity… it all stresses the body and causes tension. Finish the show season strong by keeping your horses body free of tension and pain, and their nervous system/ emotions calm. Massage can do that! Ask me how. Contact me to schedule bodywork for your hard working horse.

“I’ll ride next week.”
“I’ll ride when it’s warmer.”
“I’ll ride when I have more time.”
But time doesn’t wait. Horses don’t live forever.

One day, without warning, the last ride comes —
and you don’t even know it was the last.

No more lazy Sunday hacks.
No more wind in your hair as hooves drum steady down your favorite trail.
No more soft nickers as you walk toward the gate.
No more saddle in your hands, no more breath shared in silence.

The track you loved will grow quiet.
The tack will gather dust.
And all you’ll wish for is one more ride.

So ride now.
Ride like it's your goodbye.
Like the goals can wait, but the moments can’t.
Pat him a little longer. Hug him a little tighter. Say the words out loud:
“You’re my heart. You’re my once-in-a-lifetime.”

Because one day, your hands won’t find that mane.
And you’ll give anything to feel that rhythm beneath you just one more time.

So ride. Not for ribbons. Not for perfection.
Ride for love.
Ride for memories.
Ride for the day when "tomorrow" never comes.

Happy Monday everyone!

Have you ever been told to not allow a hot, sweaty horse to drink cold water because it could lead to colic, founder or tie up?

This notion is actually a myth, and a dangerous one too, because it could lead to dehydration and very serious (and real) consequences. A sweaty, hardworking horse needs to be rehydrated without delay (i.e. don’t wait for the horse to cool down first).

The key, however, is to know how much water to allow at one time — because of the equine stomach’s relatively small capacity, offer small amounts of water every 20 minutes until the horse drinks his fill rather than letting the animal drink it all at once.

Remember that water is the most vital nutrient for a horse. A horse’s daily water requirements are influenced by many factors, but the average idle 1,100-pound horse in a cool environment will drink 6 to 10 gallons of water per day. That amount may easily double or triple in a hot environment! Therefore, it goes without saying that providing cool, clean water to your horses at all times is of paramount importance.
