Workgroup Goal: Increase understanding and awareness of mental health and mental wellness in order to develop and implement a suicide prevention plan for Livingston County To achieve out goal of Creating a community where suicide is viewed as a mental health crisis that can be prevented, The Mental Health Awareness Committee will:
* Identify community values around the issue of suicide
* Decrease stigma associated with mental illness
* Increase help-seeking behaviors
* Identify risk and protective factors
* Identify training needs and develop a training plan
* Identify available data and gaps in data
* Broaden awareness of community resources through collection of current services/efforts
* Develop short and long term recommendations for programming and public awareness

This Memorial Day, join the Howell Carnegie Library to view β€œTaking Chance”, the remarkable true story of Lt. Colonel Michael Strobel escorting the remains of Lance Corporal Phelps back to his hometown in Wyoming.

Honor and mourn our fallen combat veterans, find comfort in gathering experience the film as a community and hear experiences and reactions from a small panel of community veterans.

No registration is required. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 3:00pm. Movie runs from 4:00pm-5:15pm with the panel starting afterward and ending at 6:15pm.
