Before you or your children go trick-or-treating, remember these tips from the FDA:

*Don’t eat candy until it has been inspected at home.
*Eat a snack before heading out to avoid the temptation of nibbling on a treat before it has been inspected.
*In case of a food allergy, check the label to ensure the allergen isn’t present. Tell children not to accept — or eat — anything that isn’t commercially wrapped.
*Parents of very young children should remove any choking hazards such as gum, peanuts, hard candies, or small toys from the Halloween bags.
*Inspect commercially wrapped treats for signs of tampering, such as an unusual appearance or discoloration, tiny pinholes, or tears in wrappers. Throw away anything that looks suspicious.

Workshop starts Next Thursday! Registration is OPEN for our next 6-week Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop for Washington County residents. Workshop is a partnership with The Heart Network.

There is No Cost for the class, but Registration is required. For questions or to register, please call Mallory at 518-746-2400 ext. 3774

Do you have a Chronic Disease? Are you a family member, friend, or caretaker of an adult with a Chronic Disease? Join our 6-week in-person workshop at No Cost!

When: Every Thursday, from 5:30-8pm, November 6th through December 18th
(no class 11/27 for Thanksgiving)
Where: Burgoyne Ave Campus 1153 Burgoyne Ave, Fort Edward, NY 12828

The workshop is an Evidence-Based, Self-Management Program recommended for adults with at least one chronic health condition and/or their family members, friends, or caretakers.

Chronic diseases may include but are not limited to, arthritis, lung problems/diseases, cancer, stroke, hypertension, anxiety/depression, obesity, heart disease, and tobacco-use-related conditions.

Each participant gets supportive program materials including Self-Management Toolkit Resources, Action Planning Resources, a Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions book and more!

The peer leaders will use interactive activities such as discussions, brainstorming, action-planning and feedback, behavior modeling, problem-solving techniques, and decision-making.

Session topics include:
· Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength and endurance
· Healthy eating
· Better breathing techniques and stress management
· Appropriate use of medication
· Working more effectively with health care providers
· Communicating with friends, family, oneself & the healthcare system

This program aims to increase confidence, physical and psychological well-being, and knowledge of chronic disease self-management strategies.
This program does not, however, replace any existing programs or treatments.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own water/drinks and a snack. Stretch breaks will be offered throughout the workshop. The workshop is currently offered to Washington County residents only.

Registration is OPEN for the last Rabies Clinic of the year. The drive-through clinic will be held Saturday, November 8th at the Kingsbury Highway Garage, 437 Vaughn Rd, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

You MUST Register Online for the clinic: Registration link will open on Wednesday, October 29th. Registration link will close on Wednesday, November5th, or sooner, if appointments are filled before then.
Please NOTE: If you are registering more than 4 pets, please call our office at 518-746-2400.

Rabies Clinics are Free, but donations are accepted.
