During this time of the collapse of colonialism I feel it’s my (and yours) responsibility to not continue the exploitation of peoples. I have a strong pull to go learn about my people’s history and where my ancestors got their energy healing. I was introduced and trained by using practices such as reiki (which is a Japanese spiritual practice) this energy healing practice was created by and for Japanese peoples. Some western styles of reiki have stripped the Japanese culture from the practice. Which got me thinking what was created by and for my ancestors? So I started my research a couple months ago.
Here’s where I think I align with. My ancestors come from northern England and Western Europe. Of Celtic origin were a set of healers called Ovates they were energy healers that used seeing, plant medicine, sounds, working with water, laying of hands and breathe work. They also helped people transition to death and work with ancestral trauma relief.
So if you see a shift in my wording or offerings it is because I’m aligning with my ancestors the ones who did good for their community not exploited other peoples practices. I’m hoping because of this shift I can heal some of my ancestors with their own medicine made for them. I also encourage you to research your family and see where and who your people were to help heal past generations so that you can heal in this current time for our future generations.
I hope any of this makes sense I know it is just a baby idea for me but I love feeding this idea and I’m excited to help it grow.
