Is it time to check your hearing?

Did you know the average person waits seven years from the time they notice hearing loss to actually seeking help?

While it might seem like a minor inconvenience, untreated hearing loss is linked to much bigger health concerns:

Increased Dementia Risk: Even mild loss can double your risk as the brain works overtime to process sound.

Balance Issues: People with untreated hearing loss are 3x more likely to experience falls.

Social Isolation: It’s exhausting to follow conversations, leading many to withdraw from the people they love.

At Florida Audiology Associates, we want to help you stay connected.

Don't wait another year. Let’s get you back to hearing the things that matter most.

New Medicare legislation may be on the way. This article available on LinkedIn discusses the advantages of keeping traditional Medicare and the pitfalls of Medicare Advantage.

The Promoting Fairness for Medicare Providers Act highlights an important issue many patients are unaware of: not all Medicare coverage works the same when it comes to access to care. Stated plainly: Medicare Advantage is NOT Medicare - it is a replacement, not a supplement.

When you have hearing loss, your brain stops receiving certain sounds from the outside world. To compensate for this silence, it often creates its own noise to fill the gap—which you experience as tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, or clicking).

This is why hearing aids are often the best treatment! By amplifying real external sounds, we give your brain the stimulation it's craving, which often causes that internal ringing to fade into the background.

A surprising discovery has linked difficulties hearing in noisy environments to a higher risk of dementia. This large British study, carried out on more than 80,000 adults, opens up new perspectives on preventing this neurodegenerative condition.

What do these findings mean for our auditory health and our long-term cognitive well-being?
....People with poor hearing faced a doubled risk of dementia. Half of the participants with inadequate hearing were not even aware of it. Most notably, the association remained strong even after accounting for other known risk factors.

This strengthens the idea that protecting our hearing may help safeguard the brain. Simple actions, such as wearing hearing protection in loud environments or using hearing aids when recommended, could potentially lower the risk of cognitive decline later in life.
