Grace Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home

Grace Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home Providing Hudson with seamless, full-service funeral and cremation services since 1970. These sections are still available for flat memorials.

Grace Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home was founded in 1970 by Melvin Scherer, a retired Air Force colonel who invested in real estate in the early 1960s. As a community resident who attended many services at Hudson Cemetery, he recognized the need for a new cemetery for the community. At Grace Memorial, the main goal was to have a respectful, peaceful place to honor loved ones – one that would always be maintained. This was best accomplished in the 1970s by creating sections that were specific to a faith or organization. In the 1980s, mausoleum entombment became a prominent request. Today, the cemetery features five mausoleum complexes.

Service options, simply explained.

Every family honors a life in their own way. Here are a few paths we can help you consider:

- Visitation / Viewing: time for family and friends to gather, share memories, and offer support.
- Funeral Service: a structured gathering with readings, music, and personal stories.
- Memorial Service: held with or without the urn present; timing can be flexible.
- Graveside / Committal: a brief service at the place of interment.
- Cremation Options: choose a service before or after cremation, with many meaningful placement choices.
- Personalization: photo and video tributes, favorite music or colors, keepsake tables, and more.

Small rituals can keep someone close.

At dinner, you might light a candle, play a favorite song or share a short story, or write a note/memory and tuck it somewhere special. None of it has to be perfect, just honest. 🌼

What brings you comfort on hard days?

For some, it’s a quiet walk or a favorite song. For others, a cup of tea, calling a friend, or opening an old photo album. There isn’t a “right” answer, only what helps you take the next small step. If you’d like to share, your words might give someone else an idea to hold onto today. 💛

We read every comment with care. If you’re not ready to post publicly, know that we’re here to listen whenever you need us.

Some days, tiny rituals steady us — a candle at dinner, a favorite song on the drive home, a quiet lap around the block. If you’re remembering someone today, may you find comfort in the moments that matter most.

Save this for a gentler moment, or share with a friend who could use it.
