A summer tradition we're committed to.

This summer, we helped more than 1,100 student-athletes get game-day ready through our free high school sports physicals. These annual events wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our staff and physicians, who volunteer their time and expertise.

Big thanks to the athletes, families, and partner schools who trust us with their care. Here’s to a healthy, safe, and successful year of sports.

From the moment Nancy walked into the Orthopedic Institute, she knew she was in the right place.

“I’ve always had great luck with Twin Cities Orthopedics, so when I needed hip surgery, there was no doubt in my mind that’s where I was going. Dr. Samuel Carlson came highly recommended, and now I know why. He specializes in hips and knees, which gave me confidence right from the start. He was professional, personable, and did a fabulous job. My hip feels wonderful.

The Orthopedic Institute, which is a unique partnership between TCO and Ridgeview Hospitals and Clinics, was incredible. I was supposed to stay one night, but my blood pressure ran low, and they kept me a second night. I actually looked forward to it. The food was delicious, the staff was so kind, and they even sent me home with lunch for two. I told them I’m coming back just for vacation!

Recovery has gone smoothly. I live in a split-level home, and I’m taking the stairs with no problem. I’m even walking without a cane some of the time. From the initial consult to the follow-up, everything about the experience was positive. I’d recommend Dr. Carlson and the Orthopedic Institute to anyone.”

From coaching his son’s baseball team to hiking with his wife, Andy’s knee pain was keeping him from the moments that mattered most.

“I’d already had four knee surgeries, so I knew a total knee replacement was coming. I just kept putting it off. I was dreading it for about 10 years. When a friend recommended Dr. Brian O’Neill at TCO, I decided it was time.

From the very first meeting, everything felt easy. Dr. O’Neill helped me plan surgery around my schedule, and the entire experience exceeded expectations. The care suites in Edina were incredible. Round-the-clock care, great food, and a team that truly cared.

I then did physical therapy with Tim Huberty and Heather Schroeder at TCO Maple Grove, and it made all the difference. They knew exactly how to progress things and gave me the confidence to get moving again. By week eight, I was discharged from therapy and already swinging a golf club.

Now I’m back to coaching baseball, staying active around the house, and enjoying the summer like I used to. TCO didn’t just fix my knee, they helped me trust my body again.”

Jasmine’s search for a second opinion led her to our foot and ankle specialists. Now, she’s back on her feet and back on the ice doing what she loves.

“I decided to visit TCO’s Dr. Paul Langer to explore more treatment options for my Lisfranc injury to relieve my pain. Before turning to TCO, I had two surgeries elsewhere and was considering the possibility of a third one. Dr. Langer educated me on my treatment options, and ultimately, we decided to take a more conservative route.

We started with a round of physical therapy and new orthotics. I am very pleased with my treatment so far. The 3D technology Dr. Langer uses for his orthotics has been life-changing! I work all day on my feet, and I love to stay active. The orthotics Dr. Langer made for me, in addition to physical therapy, got me back to day-to-day life without pain.

I live over four hours away, and Dr. Langer’s team has been great to communicate with. They have been flexible in working around my schedule. I am very appreciative of Dr. Langer providing me with all of my options and would highly recommend him and his team to anyone dealing with a foot/ankle injury.”

Cycling became a challenge when numbness in her hand and fingers kept Kathy from even pushing the buttons on her e-bike. A quick fix at TCO got her back in gear.

“I’d been dealing with carpal tunnel symptoms for over a decade. I had my right wrist repaired at TCO years ago, but with six kids to raise, I never made time to fix the other one.

Once my kids were grown, the numbness got worse, especially when I was biking, driving, or holding my phone. We were new to Lake Elmo, so I posted in a couple of Facebook groups in my city and neighborhood to get recommendations for a good hand surgeon. Dr. Nicholas Meyer’s name kept coming up. I made an appointment, got in quickly, and he diagnosed it right away.

I’ve never been excited for surgery, but this time I was. It was quick and easy. Local anesthesia, maybe ten minutes total. His Physician Assistant, Jenny Ellis, did an amazing job walking me through everything. I’ve had a total knee replacement, so this felt like nothing in comparison.

I went for a 20-mile bike ride this spring, and my hand didn’t go numb once. I can drive, text, and hold my handlebars without any issues. I was so thrilled with my results that I sent Dr. Meyer a thank-you note with a photo of me biking. He called me personally after he got it, which really meant a lot.

I didn’t realize how much feeling I had lost in my hand/fingers until I got it back. I’m just so thankful for the care I received. With six kids and seven grandkids, I’ve got a lot to keep up with. Now, I can.”
