The neuro surgery team and the hospitalist team signed off and we are headed home! On Wednesday Henry underwent a spinal cord detethering. He spent 42 hours in bed, the head of the bed had to be flat and he could only turn side to side. We had our ups and downs battling pain, nausea, vomiting, and weakness. Yesterday when he was allowed to raise the head of the bed and start moving he was in a lot of pain and felt very weak. With PT he could only take a few steps before needing a break and feeling sick. To everyones surprise by the afternoon he was feeling much better and when PT came back he was able to walk to the bathroom. He is still weak and in a little pain but ready to be home. He is the strongest, bravest, most resilient kid I know.
