Burkwood Treatment Center

Burkwood Treatment Center Burkwood Treatment Center has been providing comprehensive and caring addiction treatment to residents of Wisconsin and Minnesota since 1991.

For more than 20 years, Burkwood Treatment Center has specialized in providing effective, comprehensive care for adult men and women, ages 18 and above, who are struggling with alcoholism, chemical dependency, and some co-occurring disorders. Located at the end of a quiet street in picturesque Hudson, Wisconsin, Burkwood is a place of hope and healing, where men and women in crisis receive life-changing care in a nurturing environment that is conducive to spiritual enrichment and emotional growth. When a man or woman enters treatment at Burkwood, he or she is never in danger of becoming “just another patient.” Instead, all who choose to heal with us have the opportunity to work in active partnership with the members of their treatment team to develop personalized treatment plans that are specifically customized to help them achieve their unique recovery goals. At Burkwood Treatment Center, we understand that chemical dependency is a chronic, progressive disease that can be diagnosed and treated, and we believe that abstinence is the beginning of permanent recovery. Our treatment is based upon the philosophy that self-defeating behaviors can be replaced with healthy habits, and that accepting personal responsibility is a key to lasting sobriety.

At Burkwood Treatment Center, we’re fortunate to have an exceptional team that consistently goes above and beyond to support those we serve. Every staff member has their own story and reason for doing this meaningful work. Here’s what Matt had to say:

"There are so many obstacles for people to overcome in addiction, from co-occurring mental health disorders, exposure to trauma, lack of stable housing, financial instability, unsupportive social environments, and stigma. After overcoming these obstacles myself and finding recovery from addiction in my own life, I knew that I wanted to help others, so I chose to go into the field of addiction counseling.

Every day, I have the opportunity to support individuals in overcoming addiction, and nothing is more rewarding than seeing people make observable progress mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I think the closest thing to magic is witnessing the light come on in people when they find hope and they realize that recovery is possible."
