📣JULY’S MEMBER OF THE MONTH IS KRISTY!! 🥳🥳
Kristy has been with us for a long time, and her presence in class is always felt!
She brings such a positive vibe and makes everyone feel welcome the moment they walk in.
She works hard every single time, always pushing herself and really trying to get better.
We love seeing her progress!
Way to go, Kristy! You deserve it 💪🙌
♦️When did you first come to CrossFit Rail Trail?
When we were doing parking lot WODs. I’m an OG. I was here when the gym opened. We did WODs for a long time in the parking lot.
I checked to see when I originally started CrossFit, and that was in 2009 or 2010.
♦️How many days do you CrossFit?
Through the years, it’s always been different. My new goal is at least 5 days a week or 6 days over the summer when I’m not on vacation. In the school year, I’m going to go 5 days a week because I’m going to be free.
♦️What motivates you to keep coming back to CrossFit Rail Trail?
The people! And my health.
♦️What accomplishments are you most proud of (outside and inside of the gym)?
Outside of the gym, whenever I am faced with something new and I think I can’t do it, I try to fix my thoughts and say, “If I can CrossFit, I can do this.”
Inside the gym, I USED to have pull-ups. I don’t have those anymore, but they’re coming back. Every day I make it here is an accomplishment.
♦️What is one goal that you are currently working on?
Pull-ups!
♦️Tell us something that people may not know about you?
I started CrossFit because I was told I had rheumatoid arthritis. I had to do “weight-bearing activities.” When I told my doctor I had joined CrossFit and I was doing “weight-bearing activities,” she said, “Uh, that’s not exactly what I was thinking about, but you do you as long as it works.” I’m still here and will be forever. You’ll be carrying me out in my walker someday!
I might wake up with the worst pain but after stretching and the WOD, I feel amazing. I believe a body in motion stays in motion, and that’s what I’m trying for.
