Welcome, and thank you for being here — we are Elise and Craig Schumacher, the husband-and-wife team behind Midwest Preplanning. We are so grateful you’ve taken a moment to visit our page.
A little about us: Elise is a licensed funeral director who has been serving families for 15 years. Ever since she was a little girl, she knew she was called into this work. Over the years, she has seen just how much peace, clarity, and protection preplanning can provide for families — removing guesswork, financial burden, and stress during one of life’s most difficult moments. Sitting across the table from children or a spouse right when a death has occurred, Elise was able to see what a gift it was to have all details written out and paid for, so there were no questions or anxiety or even possible family strife created out of having to make these decisions.
Craig spent his career in law enforcement and the insurance industry, bringing a steady presence, a service-first mindset, and a true gift for guiding people through emotional decisions with compassion and honesty. Through the years of knowing Elise, Craig began to learn about the funeral profession, helping at countless funerals, during transfer processes at the time of a passing, and the cemetery memorial business as well. He has now 10 years of helping those in grief and finally made it his full time focus.
We were married five years ago and share our home with our two beloved sproodles, Porter and Maggie Jo, who are convinced they run the household. 🐶
After the loss of our first baby, we felt an even deeper calling to help families prepare in a way that brings comfort, clarity, and confidence. Preplanning is one of the greatest gifts you can give the people you love — and it is our honor to walk you through it with transparency and care. We also opened our monument company at the same time, Midwest Memorials.
