Do something!
A frustrating cry for help from a crowd to Dayton officials because of the recent tragic gun violence there. "Do something" could and should become words of action. "Do something" could be a national cry for city officials, citizens, parents, friends, all of us.
I'm a hunter and I have no desire to own an AK-47, however, I have no desire to take away the right of those law abiding gun owners. Why can't we slow down the back ground check system to include tougher questions, a mental health evaluation and deeper dive into someones history....delayed ownership? Also, citizens should not be afraid to become conceal carry gun owners with tougher requirements to become a C/C as well. A proven deterrent for sure.
"Do something" Those close to the Dayton shooter could of or may have reported his demented attraction to group violence, however,a worthless restraining order has to be replaced with real preventative protection. Local and national laws, our records sharing system and friends and associates also failed the general public in the Dayton case.
The El Paso Texas shooting is baffling. There had to be signs someone missed before he made that 600 mile trip?
What can we do if engaged in one of these horrific events? We can do more. I know our initial response is to flee, however, in both cases I wonder if anyone stood their ground and used any and all objects around them as weapons, would it have slowed down the carnage? Could I do that?
These as****es that pursue or do these things are cowards and or are socially/mentally off the rails. Can they be restored if stopped soon enough? Hopefully we will learn something about how the El Paso shooter got to this sickening state of mind. I for one would like to see a deep dive into the people who knew him and would like a published report of potential warning signs that may have been missed or worse ignored.
