God brought us out of our comfort zones and onto this great adventure that we call “Simple Blessings.” We may not know what His reasons are for it, or how God is going to use us, but we are following His leading and have faith that God will use us and our ministry for how he sees fit! We would spend our days working in the shop on my parents farm or attending auctions and barn sales. It turned int
o an exciting adventure/hobby… that always included lots of laughs and lunch. My mom’s dream was to open up her 1893 farmhouse at Christmas and fill it with the things we had accumulated. In November 2009, my moms dream came true! We had our first “Christmas on the Farm Sale.” We had so much fun and we met so many people that we were hooked! We started preparing for the next one. In Dec 2010, mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. Our lives were turned upside down. The Bible verse we immediately clung to was Philippians 4: 13: ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The next year was filled with surgery, hospitalizations, chemo, and all the terrible things that cancer brings. We got thru those days with our faith and each other. Mom’s days were spent on the couch instead of the shop, but God provided healing and we were able to keep focusing on her dream again. God is good all the time, ALL the time God is good! In 2014, my dad built us our little dream barn on the farm. We call it the “Blessing Barn”. We always have it filled with different seasonal décor and vintage finds. People can stop by at their convivence to shop or come to one of our “occasional sales” that we hold during the year. Our annual Christmas sale takes place in November. People can shop the Farmhouse and the Blessing Barn. Our desire was/is to keep our prices low so that people can buy something for themselves or buy something to gift to someone else without breaking the bank! So what do we do with our profits?? We bless others! First off, there aren’t a lot of profits because we try to keep our things affordable. Second, we found that we have all the things we need, and sometimes the best thing in life is to be able to give a simple blessing to someone in need! Sometimes that looks like homemade gift, sometimes its a small monetary donation… and sometimes its a HUGE blessing, like building someone a house in Guatemala! If you are interested in visiting the Blessing Barn or attending our “Christmas on the Farm” sale…please check out our “Simple Blessings 4:13” page or call 616.896.9864 for more details..
