Simple Blessings 413 Our Mission:

Our mission is Simple……. It’s whatever God wants! Years ago my mom and I started collecting vintage finds and making home décor pieces.

God brought us out of our comfort zones and onto this great adventure that we call “Simple Blessings.” We may not know what His reasons are for it, or how God is going to use us, but we are following His leading and have faith that God will use us and our ministry for how he sees fit! We would spend our days working in the shop on my parents farm or attending auctions and barn sales. It turned int

o an exciting adventure/hobby… that always included lots of laughs and lunch. My mom’s dream was to open up her 1893 farmhouse at Christmas and fill it with the things we had accumulated. In November 2009, my moms dream came true! We had our first “Christmas on the Farm Sale.” We had so much fun and we met so many people that we were hooked! We started preparing for the next one. In Dec 2010, mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. Our lives were turned upside down. The Bible verse we immediately clung to was Philippians 4: 13: ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The next year was filled with surgery, hospitalizations, chemo, and all the terrible things that cancer brings. We got thru those days with our faith and each other. Mom’s days were spent on the couch instead of the shop, but God provided healing and we were able to keep focusing on her dream again. God is good all the time, ALL the time God is good! In 2014, my dad built us our little dream barn on the farm. We call it the “Blessing Barn”. We always have it filled with different seasonal décor and vintage finds. People can stop by at their convivence to shop or come to one of our “occasional sales” that we hold during the year. Our annual Christmas sale takes place in November. People can shop the Farmhouse and the Blessing Barn. Our desire was/is to keep our prices low so that people can buy something for themselves or buy something to gift to someone else without breaking the bank! So what do we do with our profits?? We bless others! First off, there aren’t a lot of profits because we try to keep our things affordable. Second, we found that we have all the things we need, and sometimes the best thing in life is to be able to give a simple blessing to someone in need! Sometimes that looks like homemade gift, sometimes its a small monetary donation… and sometimes its a HUGE blessing, like building someone a house in Guatemala! If you are interested in visiting the Blessing Barn or attending our “Christmas on the Farm” sale…please check out our “Simple Blessings 4:13” page or call 616.896.9864 for more details..

It's hard to believe, but the Holy Week and Easter are just a few weeks away!

We will be making our tabletop Resurrection Garden again. They are composed of easy to care for live plants and make a great talking or reflection piece during your holiday.

We have written a small devotional guide to go along with your planter that corresponds to the important days of the Holy Week.

The cost is $25, and these will be PRE-ORDER ONLY! We will have a limited number, so please let us know by March 28th.

They will be available for pickup STARTING on April 11 in the Blessing Barn, with no appointment needed. If you are returning from spring break and need us to hold it for you for a few extra days, we will gladly do that as well!

Cost: $25 by cash, check, or venmo

Happy Easter!

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Roman's 8:38-39

There is no greater love than this. As we celebrate this "day of love," let us be reminded of our PERFECT valentine and His love for us! All we have to do is answer yes to His question. "Will you be mine?"
Happy Valentine's Day!

As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect back on the events of the year. We had some fun and beautiful times, and we had some tough and heartbreaking times as well.
God doesn't promise us "smooth sailing" each year, but he promises us that he will walk beside us and carry us through when we need Him most.
We don't know what lies ahead in 2025, but we know the promise of Jeremiah 29:11.
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
We pray that you and your family will know that same peace.

From our family to yours, Happy 2025!

Christmas is usually not referred to as "simple." But to be honest, it really is not that complicated. Our world makes it that way.

It's baby Jesus's birthday!

Our family tradition is to make a homemade birthday cake for our party this evening. We have candles and even sing 😉. We celebrate Him and reflect on God's precious gift to us.

Because of this gift, we have hope.

Our hope came as a tiny baby with a mission to save us. Today is the birthday of our Savior! God never designed the christmas story to be complicated, so we shouldn't make this day complicated either.

We have Hope... his name is Jesus!

Merry Simple Christmas from our family to yours!

One of the sweetest (literally) things about the sale will be the sweet treats that these sweethearts have been working on! Hannah has baked some delicious things, and Chloe has been working hard making candy treats as well for their little corner. And Logan? He's been helping, but mostly hanging out and waiting for the ugly/broken ones and the leftovers... that's what brothers are for, right?

It's so neat to watch them work hard and together. They earn a little for them selves, but also learn what giving to others looks like❤️.

Hopefully, they will see you this Thursday night!

This picture was from our very first trip to Guatemala. My daughter Madison and I went to Sumpango, Guatemala. A small town where they would go to the garbage dump to look for food and other necessities. I have looked at this picture a thousand times, and every time, it stirs my heart ❤️.
This trip changed our lives forever. We have been to Guatemala multiple times, and my daughter even majored in Spanish Education and is currently working on her Master's degree. The Guatemala people have left their mark on our hearts.

A couple of years back, Madison met missionaries Mark and Gina Schmidt, who started and currently run Deep Stream Ministries in Buena Vista, Guatemala. Madison spent a summer there working at the school and doing bible studies/ youth group activities with the students. She has seen this beautiful ministry in action and watched God work not only in their young hearts but also in her own heart.
Mark and Gina have worked tirelessly in their community, and it shows. We have chosen to sponsor 2 sweet girls with the proceeds from our sale. We want them to have their physical and educational needs met, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, we want them to know JESUS, their Savior!!
We do this sale not for us... but for them. We have so much, and God calls us to take care of those in need.

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Mark 10:14

Please consider coming on Thursday, Nov 21st from 6-8pm to support these precious kids. If you can't make it on Thursday, the Blessing Barn will be open after the sale until Christmas for self- serve.
