This Memorial Day, our hearts were full as we gathered at Lakewood Memorial Park & Funeral Home to honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
The morning began with a solemn and beautiful Presentation of Colors by members of the American Legion Ceres and Veterans of Foreign Wars, followed by the National Anthem led by Captain David Smith, Sr. We were deeply moved by the invocation from Chaplain Yolanda Whited and the touching commemorations delivered by Hughson City Manager Donald Romo, Congressman Adam Gray, and Captain Brock Condit of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.
Among our distinguished guests were Supervisor Vito Chiesa and Past Vice Commander Jeffrey Freeman, along with many Gold Star and Blue Star families. The placing of the wreath by the Sons of the American Legion and a Blue Star Mother reminded us all of the deep and personal sacrifices made by so many.
The rifle salute and Taps performed by Commander Freddy Morales and the white dove release from Francisco and Cristina Villasenor were especially poignant moments of reflection.
