Larkin trialed an Obi Feeding Robot through the Bethany Children’s Health Center Assistive Technology (AT) Demonstration/Loan Program. Bethany Children’s Health Center is one of Oklahoma ABLE Tech’s Core Program Partners.
The Obi Feeding Robot is a robotic feeding device used to help individuals with disabilities control the pace and selection of their meals using accessible switches. A small spoon is attached to the robotic arm to give individuals bite-sized portions of food. The plate has four different types of food compartments that help separate meals.
Larkin’s mom shared that Larkin is becoming more independent at mealtimes with the AT device.
“Thanks to the Obi Feeding Robot, he can enjoy family dinners without having to wait on others,” Larkin’s mom said. “He is now able to have a choice in what he eats and eats at his own pace.”
