Hull Ambulance Service Emergency Medical Service - Community of Hull Iowa

09/11/2025

How do you begin a post where words really can’t express the weariness of the soul.

To Sioux County- a fire that stunned a community by Granville that claimed the lives of three young people, seriously wounded another and left a young survivor; the emergency responders, my deputies, a 9-1-1 dispatcher and so many teachers, students and medical providers.

Another traffic accident between Rock Valley and Hull that took one young life and left one critically wounded; and again exposed more emergency responders to the grave reality of what it means to volunteer their talents-and yet we pray, surround and try to comfort. We don’t have the answers, but we seek the One who does.

We will always remember. 💔

To the world- you took the life of a man who used his voice for good and truth. He wanted to be known for showing courage in faith and speaking courageously about his faith. He will always be remembered for that. Well done Charlie Kirk. Well done.
You have not silenced his voice. You have amplified it.

We will always remember. 💔

To the young girl in the subway, whose life was taken in an inexplicable act of senseless violence; you are not forgotten. We see you. We will continue to fight to protect innocent lives.

We will always remember. 💔

9/11- on this , a day 24 years ago meant to cripple the United States; it did not. It raised awareness of terrorism, hate and evil. Of hiding in plain sight. Of allowing those into our country who seek to harm the U.S. and its citizens. We became stronger. We made changes. 🇺🇸

We will always remember. 💔

On this day where there is “a lot:” I ask that you remember. Remember the victims. Remember the families . Remember the first responders. Remember the glimpses of good. Remember to fight against hate and violence. Remember to pray. ❤️‍🩹

Remember Faith. Family. Freedom. Remember to speak the truth, boldly.

We are created for community—for relationships that strengthen and sustain us. I’ve come to you before, Sioux County, to ask that you rally around a hurting and broken family, school, and community and we are in dire need again. In this sad tragedy, there are several families involved and a large community affected. This is heavy, heartbreaking and overwhelming.
Please stop and pray with us for everyone affected by this. Please continue to pray in the upcoming weeks. ~ Sheriff Van Voorst

We agree! Thank you to Sioux County Sheriff for all of your work, along with the dispatchers who managed to remain calm in the middle of the storm, literally! Its no easy task to manage all of the departments, but dispatchers kept us informed and managed to listen to all that was happening through the county!

We want to take a minute to show some appreciation for the Sioux County Sheriff dispatch team. As the storms came in Monday night they fielded requests from every department along with maintaining their normal emergency response.

We say it during Dispatchers week, but it was another great example of how Sioux County has the best working in that office!

Thank you!
