Hey everyone - I told you I had big news! ..
Yes, it is true. I will be closing Sacred Spaces at this time. As I have discussed before, we go through different seasons in our lives and sometimes we have to change direction. ..
With the arrival of our little girl, I have found that I need to focus my attention completely on our family for a while. It is my genuine hope that when Vivian gets a bit older I can once again find space and time for a creative venture such as Sacred Spaces. ..
I want to say thank you to all my clients, friends, family, vendors, photographers, and collaborators who supported my vision to help create sacred spaces in our lives. Your faith in me has been such a big blessing. ..
Over the next few weeks, I will be taking down the website and doing some general housekeeping. If you have any questions or want to get in touch with me please send me a private message. ..
I truly hope that something here has touched your spirit and inspired you to create more sacred space in your life. I am trusting that "still, small voice" in my heart that is encouraging me to focus on my family and creating sacred space in our home during this season. Oh there are so many things I could say here. ..
So often, we want to "justify" whatever belief, life choice, action, or political position by "getting God on our side." If we can find a scripture or a teaching that makes us feel like God agrees with us then we feel "empowered." ..
The tricky thing about God, however, is that in my experience God shows up in the places that are devoid of earthly power. God shows up with newborn babies. God shows up with the dying. God shows up in those fighting for justice. Maybe we need to focus more on finding God and less on "getting God."

Hey everyone - it's the middle of the week! Only two more days until Friday! ..
Today, I am excited to share with you a guest blog about the sacred space we can find in therapy. Personally, I believe everyone should experience therapy in life - it can be a great tool to help us idenitfy harmful patterns, thoughts, feelings, and emotions that can keep us stuck in life. I believe therapy is great during times of transition, becoming an adult, relationship challenges, job changes, and so much more. .
Now, the key is to find a good therapist who fits what you need. This can be harder than it sounds. Therapists specialize in different areas and have different methods. I have "interviewed" a few therapists in my life. So, that's why today I am excited for you to read all about on my blog. Here is a little to get your creative juices flowing - I mean who wouldn't come up with some awesome ideas while sitting in a hot pink chair? ..
Does your living function for you? I love this idea of adding an office to your living area if you are tight on space. Of course, on might need a closet somewhere for office supplies- but still it's a great place to tuck a desk if needed.

Hi there it has been a little while since I have done a . ..
My name is Lauren and I am the creator of Sacred Spaces by Lauren. Here are a few fun facts about me:

1. I rarely look this put together these days as a new mom, but I am working on it! I finally got some actual clothes that fit so I don't have to wear my maternity shirts anymore.

2. I used to think that I would never own anything from La-Z-Boy but that changed in my 8th month of pregnancy when I could no longer sleep in my own bed. Yep, we brought home a recliner and now my husband and I "take turns" (ahem) sitting in it at night.

3. I really don't understand how moms with small children wear high heels - please someone explain this to me!

4. I love a good, cheesy romance novel. Yep, truth. I hope I get back to reading one day.

5. I just love canopy beds. I have always wanted one. I will one day have one. If you want me to get you one for your house, please let me know!

Oh my gosh I am still laughing at this. Seriously - word. ..
I know you are probably thinking that I am a Pinterest mom and I am not going to lie - I see all those beautiful cake smash pictures and fun first birthday ideas ... and yes, I may have started a board or two. ..
But these days, I have the energy to keep my daughter fed and sometimes do laundry. No Pinterest in sight for me right now. ..
Whatever kind of mom, dad, parent, or caregiver you are right now - give yourself a break. Does your child smile? Does your child know he or she is loved? Is everyone still alive in you house today? Well then ... you are winning! ..
Sometimes, we have to laugh at ourselves and make sacred space for how life really is going instead of how we might want it to go. Sometimes we have to make space for the unexpected laughter and real tears. Life isn't about "pinning," it is about living.

Vivian is proving to be a "live wire" shall we say and I can totally see how having an indoor climbing wall for her could be a good idea! She has a lot of energy! ..

So can we just talk for a minute about the amount of laundry you do with a newborn? I mean yes, the clothes are tiny but wow - it's amazing how many outfits a little person can destroy in one day! ..
I am loving this clean and organized laundry room. What about you? We don't have windows in our laundry, but we do have a whole room - which after living in Boston for three years and sharing my laundry room with the mice in the basement pretty much feels like the height of luxury to me. Trust me I'll be in our laundry room this weekend. ..
How about you? Are you inspired by your laundry room? Does it need a little makeover? ..
Don't forget that there is sacredness in the mundane tasks. In fact, this is where we live most of our lives - the challenge is to do them with intention.

So I know I talk about gratitude quite a bit - but here is the thing, it is a prescriptive measure for enjoying life. Gratitude seriously shifts the heart and creates all kinds of sacred space within and around us. ..
Most of us, myself included, have a tendency to get caught up in our thoughts. We think about "what could have been" or "what could be." These thoughts can focus on relationships, jobs, experiences, material goods, and well just about anything. ..
The moment that we put these thoughts down, however, and find gratitude for what we have today - we find that there is much to celebrate in the moment. ..
What do you have right now? Your health? Money in your bank account? A loving family? A pet that adores you? A joyful child? Freedom to choose your own path? ..
Take a minute and think of five things to be grateful for today and sink into the present ... it is the best place to live.

Today we remember the fallen. We remember those who have given their lives so that we might live ours. This is not a small gift or small sacrifice. ..
I hold in my heart the families left behind today by someone who has died in the line of duty. I feel deeply for the children who will never know their parents...
I am grateful for those who are brave and for those who have given everything.

So honestly, this week has got all of us in our house like this - phew, thank God it's over and can I have a nap. ..
Both my daughter and my husband are napping after a seriously long week. We've all been going, going, going.....
So, I haven't been perfect at posting this week. I haven't been perfect at pretty much anything. My house is pretty messy, my to-do list is far from done, and it will be a miracle if I get my laundry done tonight...
But, ya know the sacred isn't in perfection. It's in gratitude. And this week I am thankful that it is Friday. I am thankful for my amazing husband. And, I am thankful for my daughter who has slept more than 6 hrs at a time two nights in a row! ..
So, I hope whatever has happened in your week has you finding something to be grateful for this Friday afternoon. Hopefully, our week will go a bit smoother next week!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Y'all know I love a fun table for gatherings! Seriously enjoying this super festive setup by @shopfesta. Who wouldn't want to party with all this fabulousness?! ... 2019 is going to be a whole new year for me as we welcome our little girl to our home in just a few weeks! I am getting ready and nesting of course (which basically means a BUNCH of drawer organizers for baby stuff). Hahaha. ... As the new year starts I will be sharing a few thoughts with you about new chapters and creating sacred spaces this year. I am sure that my experience of sacred space is going to dramatically change and I look forward to sharing what I learn with you. ...
