Encompass Health is proud to partner with Cookeville Regional Medical Center to build a freestanding, 40‑bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital on the CRMC campus in Cookeville, Tennessee.
The 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital will serve individuals recovering from stroke, neurological conditions, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic needs, expanding access to specialized rehabilitation care in the Upper Cumberland region.
This hospital will be Encompass Health’s 12th location in Tennessee and part of our national network of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals.

James Thomas was admitted to Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital for amputee education and later gait training with his prosthesis. Throughout his multiple stays, he has achieved significant, life‑changing goals both in rehabilitation and in his personal life. James is now walking on his prosthetic, has secured housing and continues to thrive.

He brings positivity, determination and a wonderful spirit to every session, and he is truly a joy to work with. We are grateful to play a role in supporting his progress and improving his quality of life. Thank you, James!

At age 34, Justin went to the emergency room with the worst headache of his life. Imaging revealed he had a serious brain bleed. Justin underwent surgery and spent seven days in the intensive care unit.

Once stable, he began therapy at our Encompass Health hospital in Coralville, Iowa, where he needed help walking, climbing stairs and getting dressed.

Justin worked incredibly hard during his stay and made outstanding progress. He is now back to living independently.

Ti Ling came to our Encompass Health hospital in Columbia, South Carolina after undergoing a below knee amputation. Once she received her prosthesis, she returned for training. Ti worked hard during her stay and progressed to independence in her activities of daily living, self-care and walking with a small-based quad cane and her prosthetic leg.

Eric McNeil was admitted to our Encompass Health hospital in Sunrise, Florida after an infection required surgery on his toe. Previously, Eric used a power chair as his primary means of mobility due to a left below knee amputation.

From day one, Eric displayed determination. He often arrived at the gym early to make sure he did not miss a minute of rehabilitation. He was also an inspiration to his peers by frequently encouraging others to participate in therapy.

By the time of his discharge, Eric was able to walk short distances independently and shared his gratitude for his experience. We’re proud of you, Eric! Thank you for choosing us for your rehabilitation.
