We were so excited to be a part of MeMe’s recovery. MeMe’s southern charm and amazing cooking made this 86-year-old social media famous, and we can see why. MeMe, the cook and creator behind MeMe’s Recipes, came to our Anderson, South Carolina rehabilitation hospital after complications from a knee-replacement surgery. Once her condition stabilized, she needed rehabilitation.

At our hospitals, the goal is to help individuals get back to what’s important to them. For MeMe, that was cooking. Whether it’s serving up her famous Sunday suppers to family and friends or sharing her wisdom and recipes to her many followers, cooking is her passion, so we got her in our activities of daily living suite to cook up one of her fabulous dishes.

We were fortunate to have MeMe return to our Anderson, South Carolina rehabilitation hospital nearly a year later — and as feisty as ever! She shared her delicious lemon icebox pie recipe with us. With only three ingredients (see cooking instructions at the end), we think it’s a great one to add to your menu.
