Radon is a hidden danger in Iowa homes—and January is the time to act.

🏠 70%+ of Iowa homes exceed the EPA’s radon action level
🫁 Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer
⚠️ It’s odorless, tasteless, and colorless

You won’t know your risk unless you test.

The American Lung Association is offering free radon test kits for Iowa residents.

Humboldt County Extreme Temperatures Plan has been implemented starting tonight (12/12) starting at 5pm. The NWS has forecast sub-zero temperatures/ windchills for the next several days and that meets the criteria for the plans implementation.

Our town partners will open warming centers as they are able and at their discretion to assist those that temporarily need a place to warm up.

Those in need of a warming center should contact their local city offices for more information.

You can find a list of those locations at https://www.humboldtcounty.iowa.gov/offices/public_safety/emergency_management/index.php and click on CRITICAL INFORMATION.
