6 month check up today. All test results so far look great! And he is being promoted to once a year visits 💕 We also spotted some of Brett’s artwork!

I’m very unhappy with our Juvenile Court system. Jacob was turned into truancy for missing too many days this year. We went to our pediatrician to obtain Md notes as much as possible. He is dealing with long term chemo effects, which means these symptoms are not really anything to see a doctor about…..extreme fatigue, body soreness, feeling bad in general.

He has a 504 in place but doesn’t accommodate for any absence for these issues.

The Court Summons stated that he is “unruly and needs therapy….. apparently this is a blanket statement placed on all summons.

While sitting in waiting room for court to begin, we overheard an officer tell another employee “all of these bad A$$ kids”.

The Judge had no understanding or empathy whatsoever. And ruled Jacob as “truant and unruly.”

This kid has been through hell….and is doing well in school straight A’s, planning for Senior year , College and his future career goals. He is working a part time job now. And hasn’t actually missed any days in a while.

Did finally get ahold of St. Jude school supervisor and he sent me a letter to send in to school to add some things to his 504 plan.

I am more upset about the label placed on my child than the stupid fine we have to pay!

Sorry that I haven’t updated in a while. We have been doing well. Doing all the “normal “ things. School and work. I got remarried in November to the most amazing man. He amazes me with his patience, kindness and love.
We have been actively remodeling the garage into a master bedroom to make more space.

Jacob’s last appointment at St. Jude was in December and everything went well. All test results look good. He continues to struggle with being overly tired. I am sure these are just the long effects of chemo on his body, but of course I worry easily about him.
I’m so very grateful for the place we are in this journey and that Jacob remains in remission. I try to keep up with our fellow St. Jude families on their journeys and pray for them their sweet kiddos and wish that there was more I could do for them. There has been so many new families lately that are finding themselves in the thick of childhood cancer and it just breaks my heart.
Jacob’s birthday is coming up soon and it’s hard to believe he will be 17! He is such a great kid and I know he is going to do amazing things . We are talking colleges and Career choices and preparing for SENIOR year.

Jacob just went in for a 6 month check up. All his labs looked good except his eosinophil count was elevated. Could be elevated for various reasons… allergies, or the body’s way of processing out the FLT3 gene he has. So he will go back in 6 months for another check up instead of a year. He has been dealing with being tired a lot lately and some body pain and muscle aches. So he has been resting up.

He did pass his sophomore year of high school and looking forward to Junior year. He’s driving, has his own car. So now we plan to enjoy the Summer 💕❤️
