As Rescue Squad Week comes to an end, we want to take a moment to thank the dedicated members of Humboldt Area Rescue Squad/EMS.

Our members give countless hours away from their families, jobs, and personal lives to serve this community. Whether it’s responding to emergency calls, covering community events, training, or simply being ready when the call comes in, their commitment never goes unnoticed.

We are truly blessed to have such a hardworking and caring group of volunteers who continue to answer the call day in and day out. Thank you for your sacrifice, dedication, and service to the citizens of Humboldt and the surrounding communities.

Thursday, June 18th, we’re celebrating the heroes who serve our community every day!

⚾ Rockabillys vs. Cape Catfish — 7:00 PM

At approximately 12:00 PM today, Humboldt Area Rescue Squad/EMS was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a semi-truck and trailer that had overturned with the driver still trapped inside the cab.

Upon arrival, crews quickly went to work and were able to cut open the windshield to safely assist the driver out of the truck. The patient was transported to the emergency room with what appeared to be minor injuries.

Emergency personnel remained on scene until approximately 5:00 PM assisting with roadway cleanup, recovery efforts, and traffic control to help get the roadway reopened safely.

The Humboldt Area Rescue Squad/EMS would like to take a moment to recognize and thank the incredible group of members you see pictured here for helping make this year’s Strawberry Festival a tremendous success.

These dedicated volunteers put in over 700 combined hours this week to ensure the safety and well-being of our community and visitors throughout the festival. From providing medical coverage at events across town, staffing every concert, standing by each night at the carnival, and hosting another successful Car Show these men and women answered the call time and time again without hesitation.

This is what being a first responder is all about. It’s about sacrificing personal time, time away from family, long days, late nights, and countless hours of service to help others in their time of need. While many people were enjoying the festivities, our members were working behind the scenes to make sure everyone stayed safe and received care whenever it was needed.

The Humboldt Area Rescue Squad/EMS is proud to have such a hardworking and selfless group of volunteers serving our community. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment do not go unnoticed. Humboldt is truly blessed to have first responders who care so deeply about the people they serve.

To every member who gave their time, energy, and heart this week — THANK YOU. Your service and sacrifice are appreciated more than words can express.

Man oh man… Humboldt showed up and showed out today!

Today marked the 37th Annual Auto Show hosted by the Humboldt Area Rescue Squad/EMS, and we are truly overwhelmed by the support from our community. From the amazing turnout of classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and custom rides to everyone who stopped by to enjoy concessions and spend time with us — THANK YOU!

We want to give a special thank you to everyone who entered their sweet rides in the show. The hard work, dedication, and pride you put into your vehicles made today an incredible event for everyone who attended. We also appreciate every person who came out to support us by purchasing concessions, visiting with our members, and helping make this year’s show one to remember.

The Humboldt Area Rescue Squad/EMS is proud to serve our community, and events like this help support our mission of providing emergency services, training, equipment, and continued service to the citizens of Humboldt and surrounding areas. As one of the few volunteer ambulance and rescue services left in the state, community support plays a huge role in helping us continue what we do each and every day.

We are beyond thankful for the businesses, sponsors, volunteers, participants, and community members who continue to stand behind us year after year. Humboldt truly is a special place.

🚨 Public Safety Reminder from Humboldt Area Rescue Squad/EMS 🚨

As warmer weather brings more golf carts and side-by-sides out on the road, we want to remind everyone to stay safe and follow all applicable laws and local ordinances.

These vehicles can be convenient and fun but when operated improperly, they can quickly become dangerous for both drivers and others on the roadway. Please make sure operators are properly licensed, vehicles are equipped as required, and all traffic laws are followed at all times.

Our crews respond to accidents every day, and many of them are preventable. Let’s work together to protect our community, avoid injuries, and keep everyone safe.

Gibson County is currently under a Tornado Watch until 10:00 PM. Please stay weather‑aware this evening.

What You Should Do Now

Prepare your safe area: Choose a basement, storm cellar, or an interior room on the lowest floor away from windows.

Gather supplies: Keep essentials on hand water, non-perishable snacks, flashlights, batteries, first-aid kit, and a battery-powered radio.

Ensure communication: Make sure phones are charged and that you can receive alerts via emergency systems or NOAA Weather Radio.

Gibson County is under a Tornado Watch until 11:00 PM tonight. Storms moving through the area could become severe, so it’s important to stay alert and prepared.

🌪️ What You Should Do:

Keep your phone charged and alerts turned on.
Know where you’ll go if a warning is issued a small, interior room on the lowest floor is best.

Stay away from windows and exterior walls during storms.

If you’re out and about, have a plan to get to shelter quickly.

Check in on family, friends, and neighbors to make sure they’re aware.

⚠️ A Tornado Watch means storms could produce tornadoes. If a warning is issued, take cover immediately.
