There is a chill to the breeze, an eruption of life cascading the (lower northeast Appalachian) mountain sides clinges to the shortened sunlight, last night's temperatures hide throughout the day on the steep north facing valleys. It's "fall" mushroom season in Pennsylvania, a bountiful and beautiful experience for newcomers and seasoned Appalachian forages. In just 5 days, we will be sharing our own experience in a very versatile foraging grounds just north of the pennsylvania capital. Joins us for a 3 hour 10-1 foray during the most exciting time in the Pennsylvania woods. Chances of maitake, chicken of the woods, boletes, pawpaws, lions mane, just so many things in one season! Been working a contract of some finely grown lion's manes for a long time mycelium connection. We worked a 1x and 2x formulation after making a concentrated extraction from their fruiting body material. It's thick in compounds, rich in flavor and color, and ready for them to label and sell! Greetings friends, comrades, and fellow myco-philes!

At long last it is my pleasure to introduce myself to this fine virtual community. My name is Christian Rockey- I'm the other half of MMM Labs, and the Yang to Justin's Yin (professionally speaking).

For a little about myself, Im a lifelong musician and seeker who spends most of my days chasing around dogs, kids, or some combination thereof. I've been in love with Alchemy since I was very tiny (at that age, it looked like an obsession with lab glassware, which just didn't go away). My formal training/education is in Chemistry and Philosophy, but all these years later that really just means I hold down a muggle day job in IT while tracing sacred shapes in the air and tracking the movement of the stars.

Anyway, Im thrilled to be here writing this, and even more excited to be a part of this community. It's truly a dream come true getting to come to work alongside my best friend of 20+ years, surrounded by my beloved glassware to boot.

I look forward to seeing you all around the circuit, please feel free to say Hi anytime you see Justin and/or I around! I hope this Father's Day finds you and yours well, whether you are a dad or just have one!

Two microscopy photos of extraction crystals from mushrooms. The first is a raphide crystal from chaga water extraction. Raphide is elongated calcium oxalate crystals that are typically blunt on one end and sharp on the other. Chaga is extremely high in Oxalic acids, and can potentially cause kidney stone issues because of this. Consuming minerals such as cal-mag (calcium and magnesium) can assist in removing these crystal like structures from the body before causing damage. The second is a mix of compounds crystallized from cordyceps with a little cordy fruiting body fragment included as well. D-mannitol as well as 2 other crystallized are visible in the image.

And that's a wrap for the May guided foray. The trip included finds of virginia cucumber root, ghost pipes, pink lady slippers, Hypoloma, Inocybe, Pluteus and a whole lotta Ganoderma tsugae, even the start of some Ganoderma curtisii! If you misses this eventful foray, keep your eyes out for more opportunities throughout the year. We will be hosting a minimum of 4 guided foray a year. Kids 10-16 are always welcome free of charge. Good day, Earthly folks and cosmic visitors! If we haven't met before, my name is Justin. I am one of two busy minds and hands behind the scenes here at MMM Labs. A little bit about me:
My family owned an apple orchard that coincidentally got me into foraging morels at the young age of 3.
My foraging interest became extreme in 2016/2017 after consuming a foraged lions mane and feeling "different".
My first mushroom business adventure was in 2018 called Myco Mecca Mushrooms.
I was recruited by Mycosymbiotics in 2021 to be their master extraction artist, Lead forager and production manager, until October of 2023, when we finally split ways and the idea for MMM Labs came boiling up.
Before 2017, I had started my training as a metaphysical practitioner for 4 years, focusing in naturally sourced vibrational and photon therapy.

I'm a pretty open book when it comes to my personal life so feel free to get to know me more! Stop by our vending stand for a chat anytime you see us around. We'd love to have ya.
