Meal Prep: Let's Talk About That!

With school starting back up and stress around the corner, healthy eating becomes hard to maintain. Planning and prepping your meals ahead of time means no drive thru on the way home from pick-up! Meal Prep involves planning ahead and preparing yout meals in advance. This can be super convient for anyone with a busy schedule. Need some tips to get you started? I've got you covered! Check it out:

1. Reusable containers are the perfect way to store your meals, even better when they're glass (good for reheating)! Making your food easy to access and sectioned out is great for those times when you have to grab and go.

2. Meal prep can take hours, so plan your time accordingly. For me, I try to meal prep on Sundays when I know little to nothing is going on. This gives me time to work in the kitchen without having to worry about anything else going on.

3. A lot of the Pinterest ideas we save don't always seem appetizing. Make meals that YOU would want to eat! Prepare foods you're use to, but don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. You don't want it to end up sitting in the fridge untouched. If you are looking for some ideas, DM me!

4. Once you figure out what you are going to prepare, make a grocery list. Don't go to the store without an idea or you'll end up buying food items you don't need. Grocery lists help keep us on-track so we don't end up wandering the isles.

5. When you're meal prepping, try to involve your family. The more help you get in the kitchen, the less time it takes! Asking you kids to pack their school snack ahead of time and/or having your significant other help you cook makes the job less stressful for you.

Sometimes I wish I could go back and tell my younger self what I now know about losing weight.

Over the years, I have come to better understand the root of the problem and why I struggled for so long before I started moving towards a more tangible solution.

Now that I have the advantage of looking backwards there are definitely some things I would have done differently.

I don’t fault myself for this and I honestly have no regrets because I understand that “you don’t know what you don’t know”.

But…now that I have this perspective I feel it is important to share with those who are coming behind me so that maybe they can avoid some of the same pitfalls.


#1 Doing Nothing Will Make Things Worse - For too long I thought that if I just ignored the problem it would somehow resolve itself. I waited a long time before I started addressing the problem and this caused a breakdown in my significant relationships

#2 Get a Second Opinion - If I had received a second opinion I probably wouldn’t have gone on so many diets.

#3 Stop feeling like I’m not worth it- For so long I wouldn’t invest in myself because I made everyone else a priority.

#4 Stop running from Fad diet to Fad diet- This never works out long term

Is Weight loss Causing You To Eat Your Feelings?

Follow These 5 Simple Steps To Get Quick Relief to stop thinking about food:

1. Breathe in for 7 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and breathe out for 7 seconds

I used to say horrible things to myself about myself.

In times of stress when it became very clear that I didn’t have it as together as all the other people I compare myself to I would lash out in anger or embarrassment…

Some of my favorite things to call myself were incapable and told myself I didn’t deserve to be happy

When I eventually acknowledged the damage this was doing to self confidence I started watching for times when this tendency to berate myself would crop up so I could understand it a bit better.

What I began to notice was that the feelings that preceded these bouts of self-criticism were based in anxiety…

Anxiety over not measuring up
Anxiety of no ever being able to keep the weight off
Anxiety over how I feel most of the time.

Once I understood that I was just anxious I was able to interrupt the pattern of insulting myself and instead acknowledge what I was anxious about.

I would encourage you to try this out and see if it holds true for you.

When you start dumping on yourself - ask yourself what the real issue is…

Ask yourself what are you anxious about?

What do you most fear if what you are telling yourself about yourself was to hold true?

Do you fear rejection? Being alone? Being judged as not enough?

Have tried every single fad diet that ever existed - thinking that somehow they were going to get a different result. They were only committed to short term results - not long term health

Are These Things Contributing To Your Symptoms?

This may come as a surprise to you but did you know that blood sugar is one of the MAIN reasons women continue to struggle with cravings

Yep…when I look at root causes that are contributing to cravings I look at everything..,

Including… Lack of communication, your environment…your relationships…your past traumas…what you eat…

These are probably not things that your doctor would consider as contributing to your cravings but after working with women I have learned that these are actually some of the worst offenders.

Not Everyone Gets Results

Yep…I said it

Not everyone who registers for Mindful Eating System By Amy gets the results they are looking for.

My program is not for everyone and one of the reasons I schedule a Breakthrough Call with my clients is so that I can determine if they are a right fit for what I do.

I have people who get on a call with me who are ready to hand me their money but after talking with them for a bit I come to understand that they are not a good fit and I decline their interest in working with me.

You see, I have no desire to enroll people who are not going to succeed with my program.

That doesn’t do anybody any good.

Even with the call in place there are a few people that slip by and end up not getting the results they are looking for…that's normal in every program… but I do my very best to make sure that doesn’t happen.

What I CAN tell you is that the people who get results have a very specific set of characteristics…

Adopt a Posture of Learning
Willing to Try New Things
Learn From What Didn’t Work

These Past Couple of Years I’ve Really Missed…

Going hiking with my friends!

We used to get together on the regular but lately it just hasn’t happened.

One of my goals this week is to plan hiking where we can all get together.

It’s too easy to just let these things slide and lose touch but I’m determined to do something fun…

Action is Better than Inaction

Whenever you try something new there is always a risk…

You might fail…
You might fall flat on your face
You might invest time and money into solutions to improve losing weight and it might not work

OR

This could be the one thing that actually works
The one thing that makes losing weight a thing of the past
The one thing that changes everything
The one thing that allows you to do that thing that you always said you wanted to do…

So you can choose to be fearful and nervous…locked in inaction

Or you can take the HOPE that is being offered you and give it a try.

As always it's up to you but if there is one thing I have learned in life it's that even when I take the wrong action I still end up further ahead than taking no action at all.
