No one thing or activity will cure your depression. Everyone is different, so everyone has different things that help them through their low moments.

Here are a few things some have found to help them keep going through their depression:

1. Set goals for yourself. ⠀
Goals are important to success and give you something to work towards.

2. Eliminate internal negative talk.⠀
When the voice inside your head says something negative, take a moment to correct it. ⠀

3. Find a hobby.⠀
A hobby can be a great distractor from negative feelings. ⠀

Which of these coping strategies have you tried? Let us know down in the comments?

When experiencing anxiety, it can feel like you are drowning in it. Here are things you can do to work through anxious feelings:

1. Write out your emotions. ⠀
Identify your emotions and write about how you’re feeling in your journal.

2. Move around. ⠀
Utilize your home space and do some home exercises or declutter an area in your home.

3. Limit time on social media.⠀
Don’t focus on the news or social media. Spend time doing things that make you happy and engage in self-care.

4. Maintain social support.⠀
Connect with your family and friends.

What have you found that works for you best to cope with anxiety? Let us know down in the comments.

Before you react in anger or start taking things too personally, take a step back.

Take a few deep breaths, go for a walk, or go find a quiet place to sort through your feelings.

Giving yourself space to reflect will help you to avoid reacting in a way that you regret.

We often learn from experience to think in a certain way for our own protection. But if the circumstance that prompted that habit no longer exists, thinking that way can be limiting and self-destructive, and it may be helpful to explore other ways we could react. calmbluewaterscounseling.com

Our life sometimes seems to revolve around screens.

We work or attend classes on the computer, we look at our phones throughout the day, and we end the day by watching something on TV.

With all of that screen time, it’s important to take time away from it and reconnect with yourself, with the ones around you, and with nature.

You don’t have to swear off technology completely, just create time for yourself to disconnect from your devices and just breathe…

Replacing screen time with a book, a walk outside, or doing a hobby we enjoy will create relaxing downtime for you to rest your mind. ⠀

Neurodivergent males are at higher risk of developing dysregulated eating patterns and disorders. The first step of treatment is knowing to look for it.

One in three individuals with an eating disorder is male, yet body image struggles and eating disorders in men and boys often go undiagnosed. The first step to identifying these disorders? Learning how they manifest differently in males.

When dealing with uncertainty, don’t suppress your feelings. Allow your emotions to be felt.

When you notice fear, anxiety, or any other unpleasant emotion bubbling within you tell yourself “This is how it is right now.” or “This belongs.” as a way to invite yourself to feel your feelings.

Come to realize that your emotions are energy in motion. We can practice mindfulness by letting our feelings move through us.

This will help you process what you’re feeling and not repress it.

It can be hard to know what to say when talking with someone about depression.

You might fear that if you bring up your worries, the person will get angry, feel insulted, or ignore your concerns.

You may be unsure what questions to ask or how to be supportive.

If you don’t know where to start, remember that being a compassionate listener is much more important than giving advice. ⠀

Often, the simple act of talking face to face can be an enormous help to someone suffering from depression. Encourage the depressed person to talk about their feelings, and be willing to listen without judgment.⠀

Don’t expect a single conversation to be the end of it. You may need to express your concern and willingness to listen over and over again. Be gentle, yet persistent.⠀

The transition from high school to college is bigger than most students realize. It may feel like you’re shifting from being a big fish in a small pond to a small fish in an ocean.

If you’re currently in the middle of this exciting life change, here are a few tips that will help you find happiness in each change along the way:

1. Keep your expectations realistic.

Be alert to new and more difficult academic demands that could leave you feeling discouraged and defeated.⠀

2. Don’t let self-doubt win.

Feelings of self-doubt can easily occur, remember that a feeling is not an indication of reality. ⠀

3. Stress can be managed.

College stress is a given and can be managed by exercising self-care, eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and engaging in some form of exercise or other stress-relieving activity.⠀

Remember, the most important part of your college experience is to have fun and enjoy! These next four years will go by faster than you know. ⠀

Do any of the signs in the graphic sound like you? It may be time to start establishing boundaries in your life.

Setting boundaries is an essential part of maintaining healthy relationships and taking care of ourselves.

Boundaries give us mental, emotional, and even physical space to feel safe, valued, and respected.

Setting healthy boundaries starts with clear communication. The more precisely you explain your boundaries, the more likely they will be respected.

Most importantly, remind yourself that setting boundaries is not about being selfish or unkind, but rather about protecting your mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

You can smile and make jokes and have depression…

You can sound confident and have anxiety…⠀

You can have everything and feel nothing…⠀

For even a person who’s going through it can’t explain it…⠀

Rather seek help, seek therapy.⠀

Please always check on your loved ones, no matter how “fine” they may seem. ⠀
